Wrinklies 12 2026 ?
« on: October 10, 2025, 02:11:01 pm »
Greeting Peeps
traditionally the Wrinklies starts on the first Monday in June, however, Melanie has talked me into going on a cruise from 30th May to 6th June 2026 so that means the Wrinklies won't be the first week in June next year. I could maybe organise it for the second week. Would that be OK with the regulars?

I could also do with some ideas as after 12 years of trips I am a bit short on ideas. The format is usually turn up at the start destination on Monday, route 1 on Tuesday normally 160 to 190 possibly 200 ish. Wednesday route 2 about the same distance.

What do you think?

Well, you've done England to death, Wales and parts thereof a reasonable no of times and Scotland. How about venturing abroad, like to Ireland of even, for a two day bash, the Isle of Mann.

Having ridden the IoM twice during TT week (which either is or isn't the best time to visit depending on your risk aversion factor and willingness to pick bits of other riders out of the scenery and whether you are a fan of the racing or merely the scenery and I realise that Rae is not a fan of scenery...😱

Is anyone a fan of whisky? Wales has at least 3 of them and before now I've done a whisky tour of Wales. It's actually possible to do a clean sweep in 2-3 days unlike Scotland

What's the age group? If everyone is retired and their wives hate them then maybe extend it to a Scotland trip and take a week or so. But god help us don't go anywhere near the rubbish marketing job that is the NC500.

Avoiding the bike thieving areas of each country is then a requirement, obviously. Which means avoiding cities, which can only be good :D.

Or combine the bike trip with running up and down Snowdon or some Munros :D

The west side of the NC500 is fab. The east side is a little more meh.
On a bike it's all fun though. Doing it in a motorhome would be frustrating for example. Just don't pick the busy (midge) season.

Maybe Dumfries/Galloway & Northumberland?
Having said that, I won't be able to make early summer, so I'll shut up. >:(
