K1300 fuel consumption, any year, any model!
« on: March 08, 2017, 02:08:50 pm »
In an attempt to get some statistical information on K12/1300 fuel consumption I've started this poll which will run and run.

If you keep long-term records please tell us what your bike is getting to the UK gallon.

K1200 and K1300's only please, but any year, any model and any state of tune! The differences in the real world are insignificant.

You can have 3 goes at the poll to allow for multiple ownership or for historical and current records. (e.g. I currently only have a K1300 but have records from my previous bike, a K1200.)

[Having just placed my 'first' vote, it doesn't seem to want to let me vote again so I obviously don't understand how this works! It seems that you can have up to 3 'votes' as long as you do them all at once  ::) This also means that I can't put my figures in for my two bikes as they are both the same  >:( ]

In theory, you can edit your figures if you are only just starting to keep records so new owners can still play! I have no idea how, or even if, this works!

I've done the conversion for you Europeans and 'Murricans. Sorry about the proliferation of decimal places but that's what you get for not being British  ;D

I realise the official EU figures use litres per 100 kilometres but I am assured that real human beings use kilometres per litre 8) and the figures for our cousins across the pond are truly scary for us Brits  :o )

'Foreigners' welcome as long as you convert the figures to Imperial gallons and use Statute miles; sorry but the on-line converter has limited functionality.

Brian (who has never done this before so heaven only knows if it will work  ::) )

OK, who had their three goes and managed 42-44, 47 and 51-53?

That is one hell of a spread for three K12/13's!

Come on, own up  ;D

This site gives a good idea of mpg for the K1300S http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/bmw/k1300s

and for the K1200S http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/bmw/k1200s

Gawd knows what they are doing; especially the K13 seems awfully low and it is a very small sample of bikes, especially of late.

At the top left you need to change units to UK

So far I'm sure that my K1200S used less fuel than the K1300S.

...and so far, mine is about the same, only about 4,000 on it to date so a bit soon to tell perhaps.

My 2006 K1200S returned under 40MPG.
My 2014 K1300S returns 44 MPG

For comparison - my previous Triumph Sprint ST would return circa 60 MPG.
