I always use my sat nav as a true indication of my speed. I'm not bothered that the speedometer reads higher.

The R1250GS doesn't run too well on diesel. Don't ask me how I know.

My mates K1600 didn't run very well at all on diesel. He filled it up and then took it up the motorway getting into three figures before it stopped. Cost him a very expensive engine rebuild.

The R is damn ugly.

You can buy the cable from here https://www.nippynormans.com/r-nine-t-family/lead-for-connecting-any-garmin-or-tomtom-gps-into-the-bmw-harness. The connector is under the battery cover next to the battery on a K1300S. Probably the same on the GT.

The idle device can be cleaned out by squirting it through with carb cleaner.

Have you taken a look at the clutch plates yet?

First thing is to take a look at the clutch plates.

I'd have thought that the standard version can be shortened to fit a bike with centre stand.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Re: Oberon Slave Clutch but no neutral gear
« on: January 28, 2023, 02:07:34 pm »
A slave cylinder with a larger piston will not move the clutch as far as the original slave cylinder. This is the downside of fitting an easier to operate slave cylinder such as the Oberon.

How much free play is there in the clutch lever? Too much free play results in the clutch not releasing fully. There is a tiny allen key adjustment tucked inside the clutch lever mechanism, which "they" recommend should not be played with, which will make a difference. Play with it at your peril. Move it one flat at a time and keep a check of how many flats you have adjusted it. This way it can always be reset back to the original position.

I had a shorty lever on one of my bikes but found that I had to refit the longer original lever to get the correct operation.

Does the clutch lever operation improve when the lever is pumped. If yes, it would indicate that the system has not been bled properly.

The best way to check the clutch plates is to take them out and take a look at them.

I got a rear wheel refurbished at an alloy wheel refurbish place that specialises in car wheels. I took them a loose wheel and they stripped it, bead blasted it, etched it, powder coated it, and baked it. They did a lovely job and it cost me £40.

Good that you got it sorted at no cost to you.

Easily done especially when riding a motorcycle or push bike.

Normally happens a few days into the holiday when you stop in a layby on the other side of the road perhaps to take a photo. You then head off up the road until you spot a vehicle heading towards you on "your" side of the road. Your next thought is "why is he on my side of the road." If you're lucky this is quickly followed by "shit I'm on the wrong side of the road."

Nowadays I put a sticker on my mirror stem to show what side of the road I should be riding on. Handy as a quick reference and has got me out of trouble on occasion.

I had a call from BMW.
The flange on the back is bent. That's why the whole assembly is wobbly. The brake disc is damaged and the brake caliper which is new anyway should be replaced because of stress on the mounting.
The best is.........the flange is not covered under warranty and consequently the rest is not covered as damage caused be the bent flange.
Well do I fight or just pick it up and get it fixed by a garage I know and trust 🤔
If the problems with your bike are not covered under the BMW warranty, it is now the duty of whoever supplied you with the bike to rectify the problems. Under the sale of goods act, your bike is not fit for the purpose.

You must be entitled to a full refund or if you agree a cost free repair to the bike to make it fit for the purpose that you bought it for.
