Masquerading as a normal person day after day is quite exhausting

TomL, my understanding of the regulations for DRLs is that they should not be used at night. Certainly, if retrofitted, they "must not cause unnecessary dazzle or discomfort". So, just in case I encounter an officer who subscribes to Brian's views on auxiliary lighting, I have an illuminated switch to disable them when necessary. I'm sure that at 10W, that won't be necessary but it gives me the option.

Rae, you were on the money! Thanks; problem solved. I was so sure that I had initiated a fault with my modification that I hadn't checked the obvious. The tail lamp filament had indeed failed and the canbus was doing it's job!

Brian, how did you manage to add comments to my post? Is that not taking moderator's powers too far?  :)

Regulations for OEM DRLs are different to retrofitted ones; OEM DRLs must extinguish or dim when the car's other lights are illuminated.

I think the whole stress of Facebook and the new forum has finally taken its toll! Burnout, I think they call it. He'll be fine after some rest and medicinal whisky.  ;)

That's interesting! I was admin'ing away, trying to find a lost soul out there.

Then, I read your post and 'thought' I clicked on 'Quote'. I noticed that when the text box opened there were no 'quote' bits either end of your text but I never put 2 and 2 together (and I would have got 5.75 even if I had). I simply 'replied' and then posted. I'm sure that shouldn't be able to happen.

Brian (who loves the power but not the responsibility and will see if he can un-add his comments in just a mo.)

PS Yet another simple mistake attributable to working on my iPad. I obviously touched the 'Modify' button rather than the 'Quote' button. I have already 'smut' some poor soul whilst trying to hit the 'PM' button but managed to un-smut them before the world came off its hinges.

There is definitely a case for using a seperate admin login rather than the normal one. I'm also surprised that the admin isn't asked if they really want to create mayhem in someone else's posts.

The drl's on my car stay on at night but they are old tech 'side lights' in effect and not led.

I'm sure that BMW car 'angel eyes' round the headlights stay on at night.

Brian (who has had more auxilliary lights on his car in the past than a fleet of trucks but they only ever came on with main beam for driving lights and dip for fogs)

I would want them on all the time to give you the triangle of the main beam and the two LEDs which supposedly makes one more definable as a fast approaching motorcycle.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.
