Hello all,I am having a problem trying to delete the AOL iOS app and installing the new AOL app.
It looks as if we could have a security problem by the 20th.
I have spent two hrs and gone around in ever decreasing circles has anyone had this problem?

Do you mean setting up an AOL email account, or the actual AOL app, as in downloaded from the App Store?
If it's the app, long press, and hit the 'X to uninstall it.

And what are the symptoms?

Where did the security problem / 20th date info come from?
Send me a link, and I'll have a read.

Last bit:
- what's your device & iOS version?

(I'm a mobile apps developer - and I'm old enough to know better what AOL stands for. Eek).

I might just be being a little dim (as usual), but what has this got to do with us old duffers here in EuroKClub land?

AOL still provide emails.  I fixed a friend AOL account last week, email issues...I'd rather not go near them though!

It's new tower computer less than twelve months old and we have had emails for the past few weeks that our security could be compromised by the 20th so we need to delete the AOL iOS app and instal the AOL app. My iPhone and SWIMBOs iPad is also connected to it but I don't know how that happened I didn't do it.
You may be aware by now I'm the complete Richard Head when it comes to computers.

Oh gosh. Who are the emails coming from? Well, I mean to say are you sure of their provenance? By which I actually mean post as many screenshot as possible. Although your statement re Richard Head may make that step a challenge too! :)

Ah, maybe this is the thing?

From a brief look it seems to be suggesting just remove the account from the app and re-add. But I need a wee so I'm rushing.

But don't panic, as you'll see from the above link you can always access your mail via the Web mail portal whilst we work out what's going on.

There's also a link in there to probably the app store. I'm on my phone so it took me to the Google play store.

OK, I see the problem. You're using a Windows 10 PC, and using Windows Mail or Outlook.
The reason they're pushing you to change, as you've stated, to improve your security.

AOL's advice is to use a web browser (on Windows 10 - which is easy), or download the app on Apple iPhone/iPad:
https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in
Both these are pretty easy ways to read email.

However, if you definitely want to continue using Windows Mail / Outlook to read emails, you're going to have to use two-step verification - i.e. you'll need to enter an extra password. Here's how:
https://help.aol.com/articles/Create-and-manage-app-password

Step 3 looks like you'll need to specific Windows Mail as the app (or whatever you use).

Last thought: personally, I'd be looking for a different email supplier quite soon. AOL is the dinosaur of the email world.
