GS-911
« on: May 21, 2020, 08:11:52 pm »
Hello

Does anyone know of a company that hire / loan out GS-911? Im looking for a 10 pin / Wifi (seen as I'm apple without a PC). For a 2013 k1300s.

I know there is loads of offers on Ebay / red pins on the map. I'd just like to spend a few hours with one, rather than a service date reset!
I just thought I'd check to see if people loan them for a fee / deposit etc

Thanks

David

The BMW club have a tool hire scheme, you need to be a member.

Mike Delacoe is the man to speak to.

Hello David, I'm about to introduce myself to the board properly, but am holding fire until my K13 is actually in my garage ... not long now ! However, to pre-empt that a little, I have a GS911 that I'd be happy to lend to a fellow K13'er if you'd fancy a spin up to Ipswich sometime ? I'd need to check that I can register your bike with my device ( there's a maximum number of bikes you can use it for before you have to pay for an upgrade I believe ) first, but I'm sure the limit is something like 10 bikes or some-such so it shouldn't be a problem ? Maybe some other members know the proceedure / limitations ? Anyway I'm sure something could be sorted if you're interested ?

Hello Kfrogzx7 (couldn't find your name).

Thanks - I may well take you up on that... Ipswich would be a nice excuse to stretch the legs.... and test my eye sight  ;D
On the Enthusiast Package, you can register 10 bikes.

I was going to find three / four other owners that wanted to share a purchase.... making the cost alot cheaper.

Thanks again for the offer.

David

It's also worth noting that only some things use up a 'slot'. Generally setting stuff, like the service reset or changing tyre pressure to PSI, does but just reading things for diagnostic purposes doesn't.

That's a kind offer and I shall add you to the list of users with GS-911's.

I would always recommend only using the Enthusiast device to read and clear fault codes etc. Being a good Samaritan in one thing, but before you know it your 10 slot allocation is getting thin.

If you let me know which version you have that will allow me to add the functionality that you can offer to the master list. Brian

And if you're just doing service resets / TPMS, and are a cheapskate (hand shoots up), then try either:
- UniCarScan dongle + Motoscan app (as practised on Neil last week!), or
- Scantool OBDLink + their custom app

https://eurokclub.bike/index.php?topic=3426.msg42355#msg42355

You can pop me on the master list of pseudo-GS911 owners, if you like, Brian.
I'm happy to support any 'lite' list of features.

I suppose I should put you on the GS911 members map but as it's not strictly speaking a GS911 what do I put you down as?
Will you have a Red map pin or do I designate another colour just for you Rich, I'm going for a lay down, my brain hurts.  :-[

Okay David, let me know when you might "feel well enough" to ride up to Suffolk for some exercise.
If other board members wanted to use my GS911 perhaps a contribution towards upgrading the "usage licence" to Professional ( or whatever they call it ? ) could be arranged ? How much does that cost I wonder ? It doesn't get that much use as it is .... I think I've currently got about 4 bikes ( soon to be 5  ;D ;D ) registered on it.
PS BTW I'm a farmer so I'm almost automatically "self isolating" and my yard / workshop is plenty big enough to allow for "social distancing".

FOA Brian, It's a bluetooth GS911 as far as I can remember, ie it can be use wirelessly with the phone app. Is that the info you need ? I presume it's an Enthusiast version if that's the one limited to 10 bikes ?

Good question, Rae. A pink one? A bit red, but not solid red.  ::)
