Heated grips
« on: October 28, 2019, 07:48:53 pm »
Hi one of my heated grip has packed up, did all the usual checks and found the heating wire had snapped. Looked up the wire (copper nickel) mix but there are different wire thickness, I know it's a long shot but does anyone know the right thickness. Thanks

You should be able to repair the break (assuming you have found it) with a length of normal wire and it won't affect the heat output.

Thanks I have tried to mend it once already by soldering the wire back together, but it only lasted a couple of rides

Time for a new heated grip then.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I don't think these resistance type wires take lead solder.

You will probably need to crimp it.
