Twisty, What LED bulb s did you fit, and what did they cost?

The Yamaha Tracer has LED headlights and its said they are great.
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

I've not tried LED headlights but I have a pair of HID units fitted to mine. Dip and 1 main beam unit are HID with the other main beam unit being a 100w Halogen. I had this set up on my K1200S and I would recommend it to anyone. I bought a cheap CANBUS capable car kit off eBay and it works fine with no errors.

The light is superb with main beam range enough that it fells safe travelling well into triple figures (German Autobahn of course) in the dark. Dip beam is also significantly better.

And for Brian, my K1200S passed 3 MoTs with that set up.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

I have still not found an MOT Tester who said he would fail a vehicle that had aftermarket HID's fitted, unless they were badly out of alignment. There is nothing in the Motorcycle Test manual that covers this at present.
Isnt it Ironic, no its a BMW what dya expect.

I agree! My 'usual' MoT test station, 400 metres down the hill from me, is the local Suzuki and Yamaha dealer and are the only MoT place in Newbury. They have two qualified testers, one a nice, charming guy who is most reasonable. The other is a nasty piece of work who really doesn't like BMW's, keeps me waiting ages for the bike even though the test and all paperwork is complete and will fail a bike at the drop of a crash helmet.

Which of these testers you get on the day is anyone's guess; guess which one I usually get!

He failed my GS for having additional brake lights that 'flashed on and off when the indicators were flashing'. They weren't really, they were LED indicator units from NN and had two sets of diodes, one yellow set around the periphery of the light that were the indicator units and a second set of red diodes in the centre that could be wired to either the tail light or the rear brake, which is how I had them wired. Despite taking the lens off and showing him the damn things didn't flash on and off, he wouldn't have it. 'It looks like they flash and that is good enough for me!'.

Despite the bike having its MoT at NOG for the last two years, I still get the jitters  ::)

Brian (who discovered the nasty one is actually human when he threatened to fail my immaculate, 23 year old, 800 mile old Honda CBR1000 F-H 'because it had a dead fly on the edge of the headlight lens'  ;D )

That's 'cos its not part of the test as you say.

son-in-law is an MOT tester and he said the instructions are that failures are not working and out of alignment. that's it
