Winter maintenance plans. What's on your to do list?
« on: December 23, 2022, 04:11:17 pm »
I'm planning to give a service  and whip ( :o) out the shocks and send them off for a service.

What have you got planned now the roads are all salty!?

I've done something completely unlike me: because I ride all winter (when it's safe to do so) I paid someone to clean and protect the bike for winter.
It's an experiment to see if the corrosion stays away.

Should last until April, if I don't wash it too hard (*bonus!).

Money down the drain? Quite possibly. Remind me to tell you in 12 months time.  :winkthumbs:

Strangely - that's what I said to him too ( ACF50 is fab, etc), and he said XCP is far better:

https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/279751

I've seen comparison reviews for and against it - see below for two opposite opinions. The one bonus is, in theory, that XCP lasts longer than ACF50, which needs topping up regularly. And I'm dead lazy.

I'm inclined to believe BikeSocial. But then again I would wouldn't I?

I have send my seat which was a lowered version to Custom Seats near Hinckley.
It will be raised by 3cm and a gel pad fitted.
Looking forward what it will look and feel like  :winkthumbs:

I had no plans until I read this.

Otherwise it's all fine apart from an oil temp sensor that's buggered and misreading. It's a common failure according to the world wide Web. I was waiting to book it in but I just thought I might work out how to do it myself it it doesn't involve dismantling any casings.

Reminds me of the one and only time we tried the gel pad route…they work really well but don’t ever leave the bike in the sunshine cuz they are impossible to sit on after cuz they absorb so much heat, would be stood on the pegs for miles while the seat cooled on the 955 Tiger which we still have, had it taken out in the end.

Any trimmer worth his salt would put a layer of foam over the gel to alleviate the over heating in the sun.
I know a guy  ;D

I'm still anal about radiator cleaning so that will be coming off for a thorough soak and clean and an oil change.

I think that I've done mine for now, just taken each of the bikes for a good run as it's bright sunny and dry here! (Only 6c though, however cold has never troubled me too much).
