The Euro K Club Lounge / Lightning Map - 'for entertainment only'
« on: August 12, 2020, 10:44:26 am »
It being a period of sustained donner und blitzen in the UK, this may be of interest:

https://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=oss;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=;ts=0;z=6;y=55.429;x=0.033;d=2;dl=2;dc=0;

It is '...a lightning detection network for locating electromagnetic discharges in the atmosphere (lightning discharges) with VLF receivers based on the time of arrival (TOA) and time of group arrival (TOGA) method':
https://www.blitzortung.org/en/cover_your_area.php

You can even join in for about 300 Euros.

Sturgis, population 6,900 in normal times.
I didn't realise Sturgis was that small. Makes Banbury look like a megaopolis.

For Sale / Wanted / Wanted: K1300S Sargent pillion seat or pod
« on: May 29, 2020, 10:23:29 pm »
OK, let's try this another way, since complete Sargent seats seem to be quite rare at the moment

Does anyone have a spare K1200S/K1300S Sargent pillion seat or pod that they don't use, and and would be happy to sell?
I don't mind which - it just plugs a hole.  ;D

Thanks...

I think I need to try one, so if anyone has one going begging, please let me know.
Will part-exchange for standard seat, if you need it.

(Look at my other ad for for the approximate price I'm prepared to pay!)

The latest virtual race was quite good.
The riders are starting to get competitive about eSports - a fair few of them have been practising, and it shows. Who would have thought!

The Euro K Club Lounge / COVID-19: new guidance (England only)
« on: May 12, 2020, 10:09:26 am »
There is new guidance for Wednesday 13th May onwards.

...You can travel to outdoor open space irrespective of distance.
...use outdoor sports courts or facilities, such as a tennis or basketball court, or golf course.
...Day trips to outdoor open space, in a private vehicle, are permitted.
...The reasons you may leave home include:...to exercise or spend time outdoors

However, there are no revised laws. The March one is still in place:
...During the emergency period, no person may leave the place where they are living without reasonable excuse.

Are we still in the 'emergency period'? (but now with new improved 5 sub-levels?)

Can I now 'spend time outdoors' by riding to the Cotswolds, PolicemanOfficer?

Discuss.

No, not Radar Love.

In the quiet period, now is a good time to clean your radiator (courtesy of Tom), if you haven't done it in the past year.

If you've never done it before, expect to see something like this:

Also take note of this trick for one of the screws, as mentioned by Tom & Rae (& Brian somewhere):
https://eurokclub.bike/index.php?topic=3616.msg43609#msg43609

You can get it off initially with pliers, but file some flats on the screw for next year, so you can use a 13mm(?) spanner on it.

The Euro K Club Lounge / MOT & tax - Catch-22 (almost)
« on: April 07, 2020, 12:24:32 pm »
I went to renew my road tax, brave sunlight upland optimist that I am.  8)

My MOT runs out on 29 April, i.e. end of the month.
The tax is due 30th April, so I need to get an MOT.

Ah, but there's an MOT extension of 6 months in the UK due to COVID-19, so I don't need one.

Hmm, but I can't get taxed without an MOT, and the gov.uk still shows 29th April MOT expiry.

Hmmm. Trapped!

Anyone else resolved this one?
(I have all of April to work it out, so no rush. I hoping the gov.uk MOT check will add 6 months, and hey presto.)

Went to the supermarket this morning and watched a guy purchase some paella, chorizo and some Spanish onions.
