Kit Reviews / Re: LS2 Helmets
« on: October 14, 2020, 01:26:15 pm »
My first helmet was a Shark Vision R : was totally fine except the visors tended to break close to the pivot point - went through 3 or 4 - and I am far off being a regular biker/helmet user. It was pretty good all round though, if not mega stable at speed when turning head from side/side.

Now have a C3 Pro. All round fine, am ok with headship and fit, but nowhere near as quiet as I had been expecting - certainly no better than the Shark. It is more stable when turning my head around though at speed due to the extra wing/profiling... at present not worth the extra money (though I got it mine in a sale) - but good to be able to flip in town...

...I'm 6ft 4 and last bike was a 13R with regular screen putting my noggin right in the bad zone...

I had Helibars on my 13S... and as they say - only a subtle difference. Slightly more upright... which in my case meant I needed a new screen as having just got it perfect without - the Helibars popped me back up into the disturbed air... I found the bike comfy before and after - long rides perhaps better with (marginal) - but only with the screen sorted...

Not bad Rich... not perfect though!

F850GS was surprisingly good... really liked it!

S1000XR ... endearingly bonkers... actually didn’t find it buzzy...

Big GS... YAWNzzzzzz... capable bike but didn't talk to me... like being in a bath chair...

Bang on for the Tigers... and the big one way too heavy...

Strada... loved it... even though it had no guts low down... only bike I stalled...

V9... truly AWFUL.. only test ride that lasted 5 minutes.... dreadful dreadful bike...

By the way - Motech rack still available ...

C1...! Ok... in brand order I test rode :

F850 GS; S1000XR; 1250 GS: multistrada 1250S; V9 Bobber; V85TT; Tigers big n small.

I loved several of them ; hated 1; was meh about 3 of them and the winner is Italian... but I bet you won’t guess...

Hi gang...

Sadly... my days of K1300R ownership are done... moving to France so had to sell the old thing... really heart-wrenching... but hey ho... re-registering in France is a real pain in the ..... so it's sell here/buy a new bike there... and I know my next bike isn't a K... (of course if they still made the K13 then it'd all be different... )

So - for sale : Brand New and never even fitted - still boxed, an SW Motech alu rack - fits a K1200R; K1300R and K1200R sport (apparently)

...brand new these are £100+... happy to let it for £50 + Postage.

It's now on Flea-bay - so if you're interested please get in touch quickly - and I can take them off the flea-site....

...I won't say what my new bike is coz you'd all laugh... but suffice to say it's less likely to lose me my license...

Fab - there's an All Weather Biker down the road from me so it's booked in there for Saturday.

Security wise - I have a mahoosive chain; 2 mega-locks and a cover; plus it's got Datatag... so that should do the job methinks... unless there's any other particular things I should have...?

Bike Cleaning / Daily Commute : Bike Preparation
« on: March 16, 2020, 08:34:21 am »
Hi all,

Am just about to move house and that means I will be doing a daily short hop to the station on my K13R.

Have invested in a top box (I know!) and cover, plus some waterproofs etc...

...the question I have is what particular preparations I should make to the bike... both in terms of fettling and also corrosion protection - my front hub is spotless, my rear has a little bit of bubbling... am wondering if there's a product you would recommend to apply to those and other vulnerable areas to minimise the spread of the plague.

May as well also ask for great cleaning products - currently I mostly use Vulcanet wipes but expect I will need something more heavy duty when I use daily but clean weekly...

Thanks in advance all!!

If anyone is interested (and even if that aren't in all likelihood) I'll take some current/voltage oscilloscope traces ... some other stuff...

Hey wait a minute, are you saying you have an oscilloscope?! I always wanted one, before I knew what they did, right through using them at school, and then to now when I've forgotten what I'd do with one :D.

Yep, well three of them actually. It started years ago with a cheap handheld from Maplin, then a 300MHz bench MSO (2 analogue /16 digital channels that can decode most protocols off the wire) and this year a 4 channel automotive scope with current clamps, coil on plug sensor + the NVH accelerometer kit (Noise/Vibration/Harshness). I know... I should seek help really.

If you have a magnetron then help is probably too late...
