Pottering past my local dealer yesterday so I thought I would pop in to see what, if anything was happening. As I thought they were still servicing and repairing and also were rearranging their showroom. I tried to open the door so when someone came out to speak to me I asked whether they were still selling the K1600GT. He said they had many in stock and some cracking deals. When I asked whether I could build my own he answered that the mighty K1600GT was not currently available but a new revised model would shortly be on sale. When I asked whether the revision would be the inclusion of an electric motor he said that all he knew was that there is a new revised model on the cards.

I wonder what they have in mind?

Hey ho, looks like I shall have to keep Old Faithful for another 10 years then!

I have just visited the BMW Motorrad site and it would seem that the K1600 GTL and K1600B are still available but no mention of the K1600GT . Strange as in this country at least they sell far more K1600GT's than GTL's and Baggers combined!!

I think a visit to my local dealer will be made when BoJo finally allows them to open their showroom!

I have just clicked over 100,000 miles on my K1300 GT. And to think I worried about getting the use out of it when I bought her new in 2011!!

You won't regret keeping it. Those K1300 GTs just keep going and going - mine does anyway.

The rattle on my bike turned out to be the disc lock key rattling against the headstock. I wondered what was rattling shortly after buying the disc lock!!

I am insured with Bennetts and their description of a garage includes wooden structures so long as there is a concrete floor and steel locked door.

With insurance it is always best to speak to them then confirm it in writing. If they do not exclude theft they have accepted the situation and can not at a later date refuse your claim should some low-life break into your garage and pinch your bike.

Can't help you with part numbers (but realoem can) but the KS has always been 2 filters right from 2004.

I'd buy from an outfit that knows what they are talking about, like K&N... :)

My GT only has one filter and it needs changing every 12,000 miles. Perhaps that has confused DNA filters

I have finally managed to work out how to remove the silencer. Although it did not part completely I was able to stick a screw driver into the gap that I had made and there does not appear to be any circular flappy things inside the header pipes. The only thing in there seemed to be the Lambda sensor.

Hope this helps.

By the way, what is the point of the ball joint? Is it to assist the removal of the back wheel?
