R18 Launch spam
« on: April 02, 2020, 03:03:02 pm »
Is anyone else getting a load of spam from BMW about the R18 launch? I'm impressed that they've managed to build something that's more F'ugly than a GS.

Ah, I see it.

The exhaust has a greater volume than the petrol tank. Top marks for practicality.

Why are they trying to kick HD's door in. Anyone who is an HD fan wouldn't look once at a BMW.

Anyone who has experienced BMW's lack of commitment to its existing customers (K12/13) wouldn't be seen dead looking at an advert for an up-and-coming Cruiser.

If anyone wonders whether engineers or accountants are currently running BMW, just take a look at the current line down...

11000 orders fm the USA market already secured. Mainly the long choper body. Clearly they have a completly  differently perspective in the other side of the earth.

Quite true,  Costas - and not just motorbikes.

Let's hope the income is spent on designing the next European sports tourer (since there aren't any - BMW or otherwise).

That engine is just wrong for a cruiser. Not because of its power, character or anything like that but because the cylinders are right where your feet should go. Try sitting on a low stool without putting your legs out in front of you and you'll see what I mean.

... the bike weighs 345kg ready to roll

Wow. Did they forget to hollow the engine casings out?

It's to get that "genuine Harley" feel. ;)
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

My Thunderbird can’t be far off that and it’s belt drive so hasn’t got the weight of the shaft drive. It’s things like big counterbalancers and steel mudguards that add up to that sort of weight.
