Rear Hub
« on: June 29, 2015, 10:46:36 pm »
I have just had my rear hub replaced under the recall.

I can't say I am very impressed. The new hub looks a mess and does not match the shape of the rear wheel like the old one did. It will be a nightmare to keep clean and it also looks pretty flimsy.

I think I would rather have kept the old one.

From 367.000 bikes on replacement 244.000 have been already done. That is the first negative comment . Pictures are on the technical thread.

I really should ask my dealer why I haven't had a recall notice

The topic for pics is '' Topic: brake carrier/flange'' in K1200-K1300 .
The hole procedure if done by the book would take more than 3 hours but that is a case only in Germany, guess others would invent their own procedures, for the procedure followed  seriously I can understand your comments but for the part no.
The new tools are very handy and very sharp too, cut my finger only by touching it without a clove, a perfect example of ''curiosity kills the cat'' as pointed by my mechanic.

Is that steel? Is it treated or will it go rusty?
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Treated they claim it is, will it last ? I wont bet on it, we've seen how other treated major parts respond to high humidity environment.
