Nice, now it works!

I thought the following were interesting points:

The bike kept changing from a K13 to an R12 to an S1000...
The gasket sealant was applied by machine...
The oil for tappets and shafts was applied by hand...
The point at which I instinctively reached for a plastic hammer to 'seat' the gearbox casing, the operator reached for a plastic hammer to seat the gearbox casing...
The operators kept doing non-essential, but very human things like spinning a wheel or patting a panel or stroking a casing; strangely the robots didn't do any of those things...
Coachlines are still painted by hand, by a man with a very strange sense of touch...
There was an S1000 following an R1200 down the assembly line...
The inspectors 'touch' has been automated...
There was almost no 'noise' on the assembly line...
German health and safety didn't insist on the test rider wearing full protective kit and a helmet and gloves...

Brian (who wonders how anything could possibly go wrong)

Strangely traffic rules do not apply (only traffic ones) within industrial plant premises everywhere in Germany, that goes for all manufacturers and it was explained that such regulations might interfere with engeeners inspiration and work.
Safety regulations otherwise exist and they are very taff.

I found it fascinating.
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

Very interesting video. All the most modern equipment even down to using silicon basting brushes to pre oil the bearing surfaces.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.
