seems castrol syntrax 75w-90 final drive oil is in short supply any recomemdations as to what to use now or should i just go for BMW's own oil 83222445460

Had a look on the Castrol site to see what they now recommend and kept being directed from the motorcycle section to the car oil search so gave in.
I'm assuming it is discontinued but won't tell us what superseded it.

Castrol has ceased being the BMW supplier from 2010.
Any brand oil will do for the final drive.

I just like to use the recommended stuff so if something goes wrong I know its not the oil etc causing the problem.

Also double check the amount to refill - IIRC now 180cc used to be 200 and something cc.
I may be wrong though. My wife says that I frequently am....

Andy’s dad, your right, apparently they reduced the volume to stop the expansion blowing the seals. Got my oil from Opie oils.

Got 2 bottles of this from Opie, they said it's the Syntrax replacement. Local Castrol distributor confirmed it.
