Ya gorra lull em into a false sense of security for a little while longer...

Is this directed at me? ::) Have you found out I make hand made leather goods while hugging trees and want to now sell you all "medicine bracelets" once I've been accepted?  :-[

I'll have to re think that tactic now  :'(

...and you think that that is weird?

Wait till you meet some of the fully certified members. Although, to be fair, we don't let them out that much  ::)

And brace yourself for a torrent of enquiries for leather nether-garments...

Your taste in things to excite you clearly runs to what we might have referred to in a bygone age as 'a big lass'...

James. What's it like getting it up on the centre stand? My ex K was a ball breaker requiring a piece of marine ply under the rear wheel for ease of use.  ;)

No problem, put all my weight on the back lever on the ground and lean back slightly, up she comes. You can also raise the suspension to make it even easier. When you think of it, a Harley does not even have a centre stand, they are a convenience rather than a necessity in real life, I only use mine in my garage. I believe the Baggers and GA are a bit harder though as they have about an inch less ground clearance.

Thanks, everyone is different, and they are fine for a while, but I can see myself looking at RDL seats, I just wish there was an equivalent UK/EU supplier, but there does not appear to be, so it looks like spending money across the pond if I go for it.

At risk of teaching granny to suck eggs, these are often recommended:
https://www.sargentcycle.co.uk/acatalog/sargent-bmw-k1600-gt-motorcycle-seat.html

They still cost an arm and a leg, but at least they're UK-based - in sunny Wales.
At that price, I'd want to try them first. Maybe they offer such a service?

Just out of curiosity what do the Russell Day Long and the Sargent seats offer that the original does not, and how?

You could always find a local upholsterer to alter your existing seat if you know what it is you want, ie; harder, softer, taller, shorter, wider etc.

I've contacted them last year and they do not offer a try out service, once bought it's yours. I did ask about the mail order 14 day cooling off period that is UK law, they say that's fine, but you can't use the seat, only try it on the bike to see if it fits, any signs of being used and they will not refund it, and unless you do a few hundred miles to break a new seat in you are no better off, so it could be a very expensive mistake.

I've already had the original low seat done by Tony Archer of Huddersfield, he done a good job, but it's still not right "for me", although it's better than the original with more padding. I also have a BMW tall seat which I was looking at sending out to RDL for conversion. The difference is they will give you a money back guarantee, but they want to have a couple of goes to fix it if you not happy first time - the shipping is a killer, but it would still be better than the £800 I would lose if I bought a Sargent seat and didn't like it. RDL also build it to your shape, size and weight, no one else in the UK offers this, RDL are basically the gold standard of custom seats for touring, and as I've already tried three seats - a standard, a tall, and a custom made one by TA, then I'm kind of running out of options for long distance comfort :-[ PS, I may just have a fat ass, but I'm losing weight to help with that also!
