Yes I do have the mudguard and as I fitted it it almost certainly will be over the carrier frame as it appeared to be an easy job. One job less to do then. Thanks fellers.
Now to check if all the bits are there for the original handle bars.

Can I ask some advice.
Did  new k13s' come with the panier carrier framework fitted?
I will be selling my boxes and wonder do i need to remove the carrier and if I do what problems might I encounter.
I might also remove my bar risers and replace the originals.
Thanks.

Thanks fellers for the advice.
I put this message on the OG's as well.
Couldn't find any high mileage K's on Auto Trader.
I thought it might be useful as a hack bike.

Due to age and a lack of enthusiasm I’m packing in motorcycling.
I have a 2009 K13s with 77,000 miles on the clock and is of course showing its age.
Apart from an MOT notification appertaining to possible ball joint renewal and patched exhaust headers the bike is reasonable and very rideable.
The bike has been serviced by Tom Luther who does more than needed when working on it. Oil and filter changes have ben regular and mostly on time, mostly early.
I have no idea of its value,
Is it worth anything to anyone on here, if so make me an offer

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Re: Possible radiator repair
« on: April 12, 2023, 05:15:37 pm »
I have only just seen this thread.
I cleaned my radiator with Simple Green Extreme and it seemed to work well.
I also cleaned my old radiator that was really gummed up bad enough to replace it and it turned out to what looks OK. Can see through just about all the fins. The only way to really find out is to try it out I guess.
I'm thinking the rad fins are so close to get more cooling area but BMW didn't take into account the crap on our roads especially the salt that is supposed to have molasses mixed into it so it sticks to the road surface and of course just about every surface that travels the road and perfect for blocking those fins tucked in so close to each other.  What do other counties use I wonder?
Nice to know its possible to get a professional cleaning job done now.

FJ's set up looks great to me.
That front stand works out expensive when VAT and shipping is added.
Is there a UK equivalent?

He was a god bloke. I first net him way back before he was well known. I had called into Brands to see if Wednesday practice was still happening and spotted a rider making good time round the track and got talking to him when he returned to the paddock. I commented that his line around Clearways reminded me of Derek Minter's and he was well pleased on the comparison. I asked him his name and said I remember his dad riding the Chisholm Honda. he let my lad Russell sit on his Bultaco and Russ became his greatest fan. We went to Mallory to see if he would autograph the picture and waited for him to come down from the clerk of the course's office. Half way down the stairs he spotted Russ in the crowd and signed his picture. We saw him several time after that and he always recognised Russ. Russ had a terrible fall and got brain damaged and was unconscious in the John Radcliffe Hospital. I managed to make contact with Barry who said he would make a tape to play in the hope he would respond. Passes were sent to us to get to see him and he sat in the bedroom of his mobile home making the recording while Stephanie chatted to us (me and son Rob). Russ treasured that recording. The thing that impressed me was Barry didn't forget Russ and always notice him even when Russ was getting squashed against Barry's caravan. The door opened, a hand came and dragged Russ inside and then me. There was a crowd in there including James Hunt, it felt like we were intruding so we said hello, made our excuses and left. In short he was a genuine thoughtful person as well as a super star.

We have to worry about the individual cop's interpretation of the law. It was reported a while back that a woman was nicked for taking a bite of an apple while stationary at a red traffic light. The argument being she wasn't in control of he vehicle. Good job she wasn't putting it into 1st gear to pull away she may have been in real trouble. The whole thing is crazy.

As I understand a cell phone is untouchable in a car. Although  at the time you have to be considered not in control of the car i.e. weaving etc. (but officer I was changing radio stations and while I was nearby I checked my satnag)

I also read an article about some foreigner (Ukraine I think) who has invented an app where your phone can be used as a video camera and when something illegal happens you just touch the screen and it sends the video clip to the relevant authority.
Does the sender also get nicked for touching the phone screen. He must have touched it or they wouldn't have received the video clip?

« on: March 20, 2023, 02:29:59 pm »
Help, Bike due for MOT so to play safe I removed my LED's to replace with normal bulbs.
Did the r/h and all OK replaced  the l/h and stupidly put in a bulb with a broken filament so changed it but still not working.
Checked there was continuity across the socket terminals and it appeared OK. I say appeared because I'm no good with sparky stuff.
Where does the h/l bulb cable vanish to in the h/l shell to check all is connected well?
Or could something else I know nothing about have happened.
Anyone else had a similar problem?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / new Rear Tyre needed.
« on: February 14, 2023, 11:38:47 am »
I got a puncture on Sunday and managed to repair it to get home.
On close inspection there is a cut and my tyre man says it unrepairable to ride safely on it so I'm looking for a new tyre.
I have Road 5's at the moment.
Any suggestions for a cheaper replacement that will match up with Road 5GT front.
I did think about a PR4 but surely any available would have been on the shelf for some time now as I can't see Michelin are still producing them.
Any suggestions are welcome. polite that is.
Thanks

Kit Reviews / Re: Bamboo Base layers
« on: January 11, 2023, 10:57:56 am »
My wife bought some bamboo mixed with something else sheets. I didn't like them being too soft and flimsy. As far as base layers and sock go, I'llsick with merino wool. Warm, light and comfortable.

Looks like the LAMF was predicting the bulb was about to fail :)
In fact mine came on during a recent ride and this post has reminded me to investigate, got side tracked by other things.

Checked it yesterday and all is OK.
