We have another possible attendee, my friend Lucian from my French Duffers trips will  more than likely join us for part of route 2.

Any more for any more  ;D

Looks like a short stack this year then  8)

As usual, I have spent most of the winter trying in vain to update the maps on my 'love it and hate it' Garmin 660  >:(

Eventually managed to beat it into submission about two weeks ago as I was waiting for Garmin Support to answer the phone. Then, when I plugged it in Monday morning it said there was yet another map update available, that's how long I had been doing battle with it.

This time it simply refused to install the damn update as it, again, insisted there was no data card in the device; 32Gb with 27Gb free, actually!

Eventually Garmin support came up with a novel solution; if the data card had been formatted on my Mac (a remote, but not impossible scenario) then that could be the reason!!! Not Garmin's fault you understand as it is all down to the mapping provider and they have numerous cases of this issue  >:(

So, dug out the back-up card which had never been near my Mac and Bingo! Updated first time.

Coincidence? Happenstance? Enemy action?

Another part of the winter nonesense was testing the emergency jump starter I bought following last year's stall - hot start/no start - 'No, no! You go on, I'll call my breakdown service!' - flat phone battery debacle in the deepest bowels of a sodden Swansea back street.

Following the wee jaunt out to meet up with Rae and Richard for lunch before Xmas, when the bike refused to start after filling up in Worcester on the way home, (it eventually limped into life at the fourth attempt having shoved it off the crowded forecourt and just before I was about to torch the bleedin' thing) I left the Optimate off the bike for a couple of weeks till the battery was as dead as a Dodo ('Think yourself lucky it's lasted five years' was the response from NOG when I moaned about it  ::) ) and then jumped the fag-packet sized box of tricks, which hadn't been topped up for four months, across it. Needless to say it almost turned the whole bike over.

What this didn't prove was what would happen if (and almost certainly when) the next bout of recalcitrant hot-starting comes along; would the jumper overcome the hot-start issue? One feels one is abusing a deceased equine with this battery and (what, with my new-found and untold wealth) I think I might have to splash out on a new one  :o

One day i would love to join in with this but as it falls on my birthday  on the 5th, SWMBO would not be happy and my work schedule also puts a spanner in the works.

Thank you for arranging though Rae

I'm considering it. But by then, I may not have my K any more. What's the policy, then ? Also, what would be the limit date to make the reservation(s) ?

Please explain "policy" and you can book whenever you like as long as the hotels have rooms available.

I mean : if it is a K club, and (by then) one doesn't have a K any more, does one need to feel kind of uneasy, or you just don't care ... Regarding the reservations, I meant, in practice, is it still possible to reserve up to something like e.g. (only) a month beforehand ?
