You have to do a select and copy, then paste it into a Word document or similar, edit it to make sense of it and then paste the text into a new post.

Brian (who'll have a look later if no-one else has cribbed it)

You should try a premium unleaded, it will make a difference. Does it for our petrol car, diesel car and the bike. Smoother quicker and a smidge more economy tpo

agreed, on my GT I only really put in the super unleaded stuff when off on a long trek, like the annual trip up the motorway to Glasgow.

My GT will get from Home to Kirkstone Pass Inn to Erskine Bridge Glasgow (270 miles) on one tank, with enough to get to fuel stop the next day :), that's sitting dead on 70mph with the cruise control and showing 62.7 mpg.

The recently replaced header pipes had a real detrimental effect on fuel prior to being replaced. The leaking ones were dragging the fuel economy down to mid 40's, once the headers where changed I was disappointed to see it didn't improve. Then I remember it would need resetting, so out with the GS911 and a few mouse clicks to reset the "learned" adaptations and bingo economy restored, and quicker, smoother to boot :)

Tank filler mod
5 or 6 mm hole 15 to 20 mm down from the top of the lip of the neck of the filler.
Mine was drilled at the 12 o clock position ie front. Yes I used a battery drill !!!
But only to hold the drill bit and moved the chuck by hand don't forget the fit a clean rag
In the lower filler neck to stop swarf dropping into the tank.

Best to make 3  or 4 holes  - I did 3 but 4 would have been better.

420kms to a tank full which is 262 miles at around 50mpg but I've frequently seen 55mpg.

This has been more often than not two up which makes it even better, but I should clarify it by stating this was when the bike was in restricted 100bhp set up, I think it's dropped a bit now I have the full 160! ;D

Brian (phmode), do the tank mod and stop messing about LOL. My K1300s easily does 200 to a tank now - record is 270 miles (riding like my mum would ride it). As others have said, don't fill up then park it in the sun unless you want to see fuel squirting (can I use that word these days) from the drain pipe.

Norm.

Could have been worse Norm, you could have said pissing  ::)

Didn't you also have a 'spare' tank mounted on your rear carrier or was that an April Fool that I missed? (Talking of which, no one in here bothered with the 'BMW Recalls all K bikes permanently' story!

Brian (who, having seen how Norm drives his steam engine, can only boggle at how he thinks his Mum would ride his bike  8) )

Nah, we need the specifics!

How many holes?
How far down?
What diameter?
How d'yer do it?
Electric drill arcing and sparking in the tank full of fumes?

Brian (who says 'all these details and more were on the old site, get yer brains working and give us the gen!'  :o )

Having had the same mod on my 1100s for the last 10 I never realised it was so complicated till I read this.

Dear webmeister general
This has been a right royal pain in the seat to insert this in either Excel or Word. Idiot proof instructions would be appreciated for future use
And yes Mr Canning was correct , once I stop the post-remap wringing its neck  the mpg might settle a bit ::)

Public notice : No motorcycles were hurt in the making of this table. Do not try this at home.
