Here is what the receipt says:

Mis-match?

You are mad! Official. But that makes no difference to the issue. You wuz robbed! Go back and come over all girlie with the guy and if they get stroppy, hit 'em.
I had new tyres fitted to the car in the first week of lockdown.
I went back in the second week of lockdown so that they could fit the tyres I paid for in the first place ::)
-
More too the point, how much did you pay, and what is the date on them.
-
Where is the date? Hang on I Internet it ok: week 41 year 19. So not old. But not 5! And can someone tell the weirdos over the road to stop playing volleyball it's drinking time not playing outside time!
EDIT: OH YEAH: They put frigging silver balancing weights on black wheels.
Double Edit: Chris, I paid 5 prices (114 and 150 including VAT, which roughly matches blackcircles) and I don't really care about the price (within reason) so long as I get what I ask for.
Triple Edit: So maybe I won't forget: left cylinder ticking. I can't be arsed sifting the internet full of shit for the cause yet.
-
But did you pay 5 price? And how many on here got the M&P tyre mail yesterday, normally my tyres don’t even need a warmer on them... but thems Mich’s from M&P are good money.
-
If you paid 5 price then you’ve been had, but blimey surely you looked at them when they were fitted and the 4 looks nothing like 5 apart from their black round.
Just looked at the M&P mail £256 loose for 5’s and that’s a 55.
-
Well if I was familiar with what each looked like, but I've never had 5s on the K. I booked it weeks ago and then promptly forgot all my research.
Oh I forgot to say, this is BMW who cocked up. So it should be an easy fix, just a pain in the arse to go back over there.
-
You have lost me here are we talking K tyres 190/55/17 120/60/17 because if you are what you paid isn’t Road 5 money not unless they were feeling generous and did them for free.
If M&P are £256 loose the very least you are looking at is £280 fitted.
-
I'm on a 1250GS these days :). But never mind the price, it's a red kipper at best! :p
-
Slightly off topic but interesting anyway. The Road 5 190/55/17 has been withdrawn as a Michelin recommended tyre for the K1600 as it is actually around 203mm wide and in a few cases has rubbed on the swingarm. :o
-
Seeing as this thread is so exciting so far.
First response from BMW, "yeah the 5 isn't available yet... <add words by me saying receipt and phone call said yes>... Oh I'll call you back once checked K"
Even if he was thinking of the non-trail version, that's been available ages. And black circles and the rest show the Trail version available.
-
... First response from BMW, "yeah the 5 isn't available yet... <add words by me saying receipt and phone call said yes>... Oh I'll call you back once checked K" ...
My dealer has been fitting Road 5s to GS's since last year - seem to really suit the GS if you are into road riding rather than off-road riding. Seen some very quick guys do track days on them.
-
I would like to try a track day on this!
Andy yeah thanks Belco, I was getting slightly paranoid! Half expecting next response to be, "it's a dream, go back to sleep" :P.
-
You are mad, and I claim my £5.
And is that a trick of the light or is the wheel rim not quite round?
(around the 'd 4' of 'Road 4')
-
It's the light and the tyre chalk stuff they forgot to clean off :).
Ok they admitted they got it wrong at least, then started trying to tell me 4 and 5 are the same - I almost said "Ask Chris Canning!" :P - and I've said yeah I would like the 5 please. So now I await another call back I probably won't receive.
-
It's the light and the tyre chalk stuff they forgot to clean off :).
Ah good. I can stop worrying now.
-
Yep you are certainly go mad....you are asking about tyres for a GS and this is a Forum for K1200/1300 try the GS forum...
-
This is the Lounge, one can ask about whatever one wants, fishing tackle, nipple rings, whatever floats one's boat.
-
Looks like both Matt and I need to be paying more attention then....
-
Re the tyres
Who ever raised the invoice, you can bet your life didn’t fit the tyres so completely their fault, but....if Matt took his GS in and they wheeled a K out and said ‘Here’s your bike’ he’d have laughed and that’s the difference between a 4 and 5 still no excuse, just means their were 3 daft buggers instead of two.
-
I won't have a bad word said about Nigel Mansel!

Blimey Chris! What happened to your head of black hair?
-
When waiting in the queue on a Friday night clocking out of work, the banter from the back used to go along the lines of ‘Don’t forget to dye your hair on Sunday night Canning’.... only looking at old photos I understand the abuse ;D ;D
-
The eyebrows need to be at leat 8 times the size come on! :D
-
has anything happened since?
this is just the sort of problem i seem to run into...always interested to hear what sort of excuses come back, and the occasional we made a bit of a boo boo we'll sort it out lifts my heart a little..
-
Hey man,
Yeah sorry! I got a date a couple days later to go in and I had them fitted. PR5GT on the rear because they still couldn't find a rear PR5 Trail. But I made an executive heavy-bike decision and said whatever. No charge.
The "yeah come in and we'll have it turned round in an hour," predictably turned out to be "can we give you a bike because it'll be a few hours?" Which wasn't really a question unless I wanted to catch herpes or whatever it is in the busy outdoor seating area. I also asked "hey I know it's a bit silly but, black wheel weights please?" and got "we don't have those." I then look around at 90% OF THEIR BIKES WITH BLACK WHEELS.
So I borrowed an F900R which I enjoyed a bit more this time. Sounds quite nice. Then I went back and got my bike back. All good.
Oh they did clean it, but the black gloss paint parts was left all smeared. And they hadn't cleaned off the sticky foamy bits from the weights they removed. OH and the 20 plate 800 mile F900R TFT had scratches over the screen. Noice. Glad I have my protector.
I'll be going Alton next time. And then buying a huge house and doing my own god damn tyres. (huge house with huge garage you see)
-
Going into a bike dealer for tyres :o blimey how novel is that....
Don’t think i’ve Done that in close on 30 years, tyre retailer every time as in that’s all they sell, and even then with loose wheels, but hey ho...
-
He does ask whether or not he is mad...
-
I've always used the dealer for tyres on the modern bikes (on the 1970's Honda's I fit my own). Only once have I deviated from this, and the bike came back with scuffed and chipped rims, as well as a vibration that wasn't cured by balancing (three separate dealers tried for me) and which eventually caused me to sell the bike, as it annoyed me so much. This was the third set of tyres that I had on the bike whilst I owned it, and it went in without exhibiting any problems and with perfect rims too!
Off to the dealer tomorrow for annual service/MOT, brake fluid and final drive oil changes with the K1300GT.
With the old bikes I am happy to do just about all of the work (except for electrics) including engine/transmission overhauls, however the newer ones with all of the electronics don't give me the same level of interest to work on (and I dread finding an electrical fault on reassembly that I've no hope of sorting out).
-
it is so disappointing when you weigh up options and plump for what you think is the safest option only to be let down by the professionals making a mistake i would'nt (i think ) have.
at least you got your tyres sorted.
good point by chris canning on the tyre dealers being the tyre people....but then i got nipped (literally) by one....its just disappointing.
-
Some irony going on here because I haven't had a tyre fitted on a bike by anyone but a tyre outlet in years, and in my case as a certain gent on here knows because we have met there is Wheel House Tyres, but just show.... just had a car MOT'd and suggested he change the tyres while he was at it and ruined an Alloy wheel, I'll not bore you with the rest....
-
Agh. See I'm shedding it in car world, E46 325i and when I got it the mv1 alloys weren't exactly great so I've not been precious. Every time I look at something fancier I worry that... I'll worry. :D
Still, wouldn't mind an XK! Maybe I could but steels on it :p.
-
With modern wheel/tyre gear in a proper tyre place there is NO excuse for scuffs or chips or silver weights on black wheels.
Micheldever Tyres (the real ones in Micheldever) have fitted a gazillion tyres on rally cars, my road cars, family cars and mine and mates bikes for donkey's years with never a blemish or a complaint. The tyre bay is a proper bike tyre bay and the guy is happy to use your weights if you have lime green wheels and want lime green weights (ebay). He even points out that if you have older wheels with the ridge down the middle and clip on weights, that if he takes them off they will scratch the paint :(
-
I used those guys years ago, I think after you'd mentioned them. Was good, might try them next time.
