Hi and welcome, I am really new here too and have been made to feel very welcome. me and our crew did a circuit of Ireland on bikes in 2014, what a memorable trip, including the rather large amounts of rain!! And Guinness

We are quite handy for Holyhead and the short trip over is a breeze, we rode across Ireland on day one and stayed overnight in Cloghane in County Kerry, then along the stunning Wild Atlantic Way up the West coast for an overnighter in Westport (thoroughly recommended), then East for two nights in Ballycastle in the North and watched the Armoy road races (unreal), then along the North Antrim coast back to Dun Laoghaire and back over in 4 days or so, tiring, but inspiring. That was on my VFR, can wait to introduce the new K to those roads and views, do it while you can, you only live once.

Quite often visit the Ponderosa for a brew, and we usually head west, to Bala, Barmouth, Lleyn Peninsula, etc, willing to ride anywhere as long as there is a brew beckoning!! And its not raining..

Welcome to the club,
Do you have details of the VFR for sale. Might know somebody interested as not long past test and looking for first touring bike. Pictures would be appreciated etc.
Cheers Mark.

Mark/All,

Sorry for the delay, I have been mainly looking around the K13 section and missed the Whos Who section.

I'm up for a rendezvous sometime, if anybody fancies it, in the North Wales/North West area, as long as there is a brew at the end of it.

My VFR is still with me, put it to bed for the winter, but always open to a sale if the chance arises. Have you an e-mail and I will forward some pics for your friend to view Mark.

Cheers

Steve

UPDATE.

As promised went out for a brisk ride last Thursday and 'thought' on a couple of occasions that there were subtle changes when cycling through modes, however, not convinced, but as per my initial post, loving the bike, it does everything I ask of it and a little more, and I am still now learning every time I go for a spin, it's a real step up from years of VFR 800 ownership. I may when I can run proper diagnostic tests on the bike to see if anything concerning the ESA pops up, or indeed any other faults it may find.

Cheers,

Steve.
you ever go up the ponderosa? if weathers okay this weekend ill be up there ..could meet and ill tell you if your bikes got issues with esa

Thanks for the kind offer, we can often be found having a brew at the Ponderosa, but unfortunately not this weekend. Helping the in-laws to move house, but may hold you to that at a future date.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks for that, what did I start!!

The large pants and plumbing tips are invaluable.

Going for a spin tomorrow, so will put her through her paces and will change settings throughout to see if I have any movement (so to speak).

Will report back.

Cheers for that, I thought there may be an obvious rise in the bike, and/or some form of audible whirring noise, but as you say still getting used to the bike, and what a bike it is.

Guys,

Having been the owner of my new to me K1300S I am slowly but surely getting used to its handling and pace. A question, it appears that my ESA system may not be working, the screen shows the switch between COMF/NORM/SPORT, scrolling and I can adjust between rider/pillion/luggage but I can see no obvious movement in the spring, and cant feel an obvious change in the handling etc and have watched youtube videos of the system in action and have seen the spring position change when the ESA settings are scrolled. Should the movement be obvious to see and feel? I am more than happy with the bike as it is and it feels sure footed and soaks up the bumps and in my 10 years of VFR ownership, never tinkered with the suspension settings in anyway, so am happy as it were with what I have, just interested to see what is not working, and whatever it is, will live with it, unless it is a cheap fix (which with BMW is rare!!)

Would a diagnosis with a GS911 assist me, and is this the type of forum where colleagues will assist with sharing diagnosis, for the price of a pint? Wouldnt mind a runthrough of the GS911 to see if any other faults may be present

Also if the ESA isnt working is there a way of jarring it to work, ie with a hammer etc?

Thanks in advance

Hello all,

Recently taken my first step to BMW ownership after buying an 09 K1300s after many years of VFR 800 cc joy (for sale by the way)

Picked the K up about a fortnight ago from darn sarf and rode back to sunny North Wales. So far so good, loving the extra quality and pace, even got the missus to pillion last week, for the first time ever, so must be good.

Everything seems OK with the bike and have taken to her like the proverbial duck to water, cant wait for next June for the annual pilgrimage to Douglas to see what she can really do over the mountain.

Its good to be here, looking forward to picking up hints and tips, see you round.

Steve
