New guy from Portugal
« on: August 28, 2023, 06:32:37 pm »
Hi all,
I'am a BMW motorcycles guy.
All my experience on "big bikes" was with BMW bikes.
From a "small" 1994 K1100LT" to start with, to an 2000 R1150GS to go everywere, to a 1998 K1200RS to go fast, and again a boxer with my former 2001 R1150RT. Now I have a 2006 K1200GT to go "very fast" in style to where the road decides to take me  ;D

I hope to learn from your experience and help in any way I can  8)

Cheers!

Hi Miguel and welcome. Where in Portugal are you?
How about Vila do Conde?

Hi Miguel and welcome. Where in Portugal are you?

Hi black-k1!
Vila do Conde is located in the north of Portugal, 18mi from Porto.
It's a very old town with lot's of history and it is a coastal city with a river (it's worth searching and seeing some pictures...I don't know how to add pictures here :D).
At the weekend it is a meeting point for bikers from various parts of northern Portugal :)
Cheers

Hi Miguel and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub.

As you can see, anyone who lives in warmer climes is VERY popular in here. Especially in the chilly UK, a silly 15° here at mid day. Where did summer go?

The north of Portugal is on my list of places I want to ride but I suspect it'll be a few years before I get the opportunity to do so. :(

Is Portugal generally good for bikes? In February I'll probably be riding from north to south to attend a BMW off road trip. I'm thinking I'll make a holiday of the pre or post BMW thing, as is my wont any time I get out of this silly country!

Yes Matt, you can ride without trouble everywhere.
In February it's winter with some probability of rain and some snow in the north of Portugal. But even so, for you it must be like spring for us  ;D
You'll be very welcome if you come. And I will show you some good places here.  :winkthumbs:
