Brian, it sounds like you're operating the calipers with the traction control on the thumb wheel switched off!   ;)
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

I eventually bought a vernier calliper, non digital, as I was fed up with always finding the thing had a flat battery. This is better in at least two ways... Firstly the battery is never flat and secondly, every time you use it the trick of the vernier scale that lets you measure more accurately by eye than your can actually see reminds me that there are some amazingly useful things in the world. Like Potatoes.

You might larf, but that crossed my mind...seriously. But when I read the instructions ( ::) ) it actually said that you can simply pull and push the moveable jaw so I figured the traction control was automatic  :o

Anyhoo, the new one doesn't do it.

Battery life on my Mitotoyo digital vernier seems to be around 3 years. It's calibrated, too. Having forked out for a good item many years ago, around a hundred quid I think, I was a bit miffed at the cheap ones turning up lately. I admit to being a bit smug on hearing about issues with the cheap ones, sorry.

I always take the battery out when I'm not using it.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

What two dipped beams? I only have one.  ;D
I fitted my HID to the dip when I got the bike, but removed it for MOT. I haven't bothered to put the HID back as I realise  I hardly ever go out in the dark.

I think going out in the dark is vastly under-rated. No eejits, no Sunday drivers (even on a Sunday) and you can ride without bothering to comb yer hair... 8)

I'm doing my best, but I can only shoot them so fast, and I'm not in your area  :P
