If it's "oozing" oil I doubt the Sealmate would work anyway Jon. Mine were just slightly weeping and it worked for a short while. In the end I had them replaced by Ernie at the FJ Owners Workshop. He tells me that they have to be hydraulically pressed out (messy job).

It does sound messy Rae and probably costly to boot and not a job for an amateur like me to attempt.

With such a low annual mileage, it isn't unheard of for seals to take on a 'set'; was it still weeping/oozing at the end of the ride out?

I'll take a look at it this morning Brian. I just cleaned everything up when we returned and put it back in the stable.

I've left the bike for 24 hrs but the problem still exists. Fork oil around the top collar/seal thingy. Getting it booked in for remedial attention asap.

It's not the seals , issue a acoarding to our local yamaha guru has to do with the actual bottles and the ring facfory is using, recoment a better quality ring at a supplier like ohlins. Just inquire with old part at hand, verwions 1,2 amd 3,4 are deferend among them.
