Tossers, if it was meddling.

Now then, starter button/kill switch is a known failure requiring new switchgear on the right.

OR

Someone else has flicked his kill switch to off...you have checked I hope  8)
On my bike and I assumed all K1300s's, the kill switch cannot be switched to off.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Be extremely carefull as to correctly use it to adjust the brake lever aith the lever push outwards ALWAYS .
The little black adjuster is no longer available as a single part and easily worn out cause its made fm aluminium alloy if used with the lever pressed .
If you brake it or worn it out better search in a used parts provider as the other option is to get the hole lever for about 400 €.

well thats quite the mixture of bad design and exorbitant pricing...like the switchgear....awaiting arrival of new kill switch for mates bike, which after a bit of haggling comes to £130, acouple of months ago i replaced the other side on my own bike for the sum of £250....jesus wept.
this could very easily turn into a rant...

I stand to be corrected here but I thought the switch gear was either a good will replacement or a warranty item.

i did mention warranty which simply wasn't happening, i did not however mention recall....would this make a difference?
one bike is 2011 and my own which also had switchgear failure was 2010 so well out of warranty but does a recall run out of time?
switchgear is paid for now anyway but has anyone got this done recently under recall?

The switch gear was never a recall to the best of my knowledge, BMW rarely issue recalls. Many problems are ironed out on a good will basis.

The switchgear on my 2010 K1300 GT has been replaced under the BMW two - year used bike warranty, if I had not had the benefit of that I think that I would have been paying for it myself!

Rae, I think that would be a good idea - for as long as BMW offer it, I intend to keep it going.

They offer it up to 80000 miles except suspension which is 30000 miles.

You can put your details into the warranty website and it will tell you if you are eligible.

Yer'right Tom. Still not used to the sensible new switches, the 12 had a twisty kill switch  :-[
