My Zumo 550 has final died - non responsive screen

I'm looking for a replacement which
- supports Bluetooth for my phone
-  I can wire into my existing power lead
- has decent software that allows me to plan a route on my laiptop then upload it to the sat nav unit.

What are the recommendations?

(Edited to remove ref to canbus)

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Changing brake and clutch fluid
« on: October 31, 2016, 11:22:10 am »
Whilst my bike was at NOG this morning for its change of brake fluid (they'd missed it at the service a few weeks) ago, I asked them to do the clutch fluid at the same time.

Kim, on the service desk, was a little perplexed as this isn't listed as a service item. After asking Matt, the service manager there, it seems the clutch system is "sealed for life" and doesn't require a change of fluid. Odd that, afaik, it runs the same spec fluid as brakes??

Does this seem plausible?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Service Offer at NoG
« on: October 20, 2016, 05:29:06 pm »
Too late for me but others might benefit.

During November & December, NoG are offering fixed price servicing at these rates:
- 6k miles = £110
- 12k miles = £170
- 18k miles = £310
- 24k miles =£220

With brake fluid change from £45.

All to BMW schedule

Praise or Shame / North Oxford Garage
« on: October 15, 2016, 03:47:03 pm »
I thought I would be posting a complaint here following my recent service, MoT and repair work at NoG as it transpired that despite asking for, and being quoted for, a brake fluid change as part of the work, this wasn't done.

I contacted NoG to enquire what had happened and received this.

"I have just looked at your invoice and it would appear that this has been missed off of your service.
I think this was an error on my part and I apologise for this. If you would like to come back in and get the brake fluid changed I can arrange this for you and a gesture of goodwill we will pay for it.

I apologise again for the inconvenience and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards
 Kimberley"

Can't ask for more than that so I will be continuing with NoG, despite them ordering tank panel when I had asked them to replace the fairing panel after my "forecourt fallover."

Other (K) Bikes or anything else! / F800 GS loaner - review
« on: October 11, 2016, 09:34:10 pm »
While my S is in at NoG for service, MoT and some new plastics, I have a F800 GS as a loaner. (It was supposed to be for just the day but they misunderstood when I said I needed a new n/s fairing panel and they've ordered the bit that wraps around the tank, so I'll have the loaner for a few days...)

Anyway, it's a tall, vibey old thing and feels really wheezy and asthmatic. It indicates c65mpg on the 50 miles I've done but I'm not comfortable filtering on it as it is sooooo wide.

Oh and it won't fit in my garage due its length (it's too long to park sideways on front of the car...)

I'll stick with my S.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / K1300 S - service quote from North Oxford BMW
« on: September 12, 2016, 05:44:44 pm »
For the following work,

- oil & filter change
- brake fluid change (all round)
- regrease front ball joint / clamp
- MoT
- service bike for the day

NoG has quoted £297.65, which seems fair to me, especially as Dick Lovett in Bristol quoted £210 for the annual seri ice (which is effectively an oil change).

And today I received, from NoG, a "£25 off your next service" voucher ....and those prices are before the 10% discount for BMW bike club members....

The dilemma I now have is whether to renew the warranty, at c£335, when it runs out next month...

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Bar end weights - are the screws lock tighted in?

Mine are proving rather tough to undo.....

K1200 / K1300 Forum / TPM / TPS (tyre pressure monitoring)
« on: September 03, 2016, 03:44:28 pm »
The sensor on my rear wheel is giving a different reading to other 2 gauges - sensor is reading 2.7 bar, but other gauges are reading 2.9/3.0. One of these gauges is my regular Draper unit which previously has matched or been with 0.1 bar of the sensor....

I would have thought that if the battery was low, it would not read at all, not under read - anyone  else had a similar issue with their sensors?
