I visited my local dealer again today this time with Rae's exploded diagram. Again he took my registration number then searched his computer with my chassis number. Strangely, this time his exploded diagram of the gearshift linkage showed two stop discs! He commented that I may have a USA version. I now have the second one on order and hope to collect it next Saturday. Hopefully problem solved.
Out of interest my repROM shows only one washer (stop disc) for both K1200GT and K1300GT, both "normal" and USA versions, so well done Rae for finding the correct exploded diagram.
By the way, Andysdad has hit the nail on the head.
On my way home from the dealers I called into ASDA for some petrol. Although I have had hot start problems in the past (usually on cold winter days such as this) I have always managed to restart the engine after a couple of stabs at the button. Today not a peep! In the end, after the engine had been stopped for over half an hour, I called the RAC then went into ASDA's cafe for a cup of tea. Having finished my tea and an hour and a quarter after the engine had stopped I returned to my bike and the engine started with no problem at all. Eight reliable years then 2 problems in a fortnight. Is Old Faithful suggesting I P/X her for a shiny new K1600GT?? Should I buy now before Trump and Brexit empty my pension fund?
