GRmoto exhausts...any ideas?
« on: March 01, 2023, 03:11:24 pm »
Hi all
I have an Akrapovic exhaust on my K1300R now but it has some cosmetic damage and I am thinking about replacing it with a GRmoto. The GRmoto exhausts look good and are at a decent price. Does anyone have any info/experience or opinions about this silencer besides it being a lot lighter?
Thanks

I was also looking at these but same as you i wasn't too sure as i have never heard of them before.

They look quite smart but cant help but think they look like the £40 ones off Amazon lol

I'l keep my eye on this to see what others think of it.

Just one thing to note, if it is important to you.  These are road legal in the UK (as stated in their ads) , but are not EU stamped, so if you go to Europe, it may cause a problem.

Thanks for that Corkboy, it never even crossed my mind.

nealchaykin, the can came today (fast delivery or what) opened the box to find all the bits you need to fit on the bike including gasket sealer and a seperate bag with 2x valve caps, a key ring and a tank protector LOL

First impressions when i opened the box was like yeah, looks like a £50 amazon can but i fitted it anyway. Not much louder than a stock exhaust so i took the baffle out and sounds much better.

Haven't had chance to take it up the road yet because it started raining quite heavily but im sure it will be fine.

Visually i can see all my rear wheel now and the can won't have to be removed to take the rear wheel off. A couple of the lads at work said it looks better now with a smaller can but im not so sure.

I will post a pic as soon as i get it off my phone.

I'm not sure it matters. It might be illegal to fit non-EU stamped items to a vehicle registered within the EU but the rule doesn't apply to one just visiting from a non-EU country

You're probably correct. I know that roadside noise checks can be set up, so overly loud  is probably more important or more likely to get you in trouble.

I put an EU stamped end can on mine, because it may cause issues, being in the EU, even with insurance claims, and I go to Italy each year (if ever there was a country that didn't give a figs about EU rules,  ;D )

(but don't tell them that I have an AF-xied, which is definitely not road legal  :winkthumbs: )

 :)

Nor any comprehension how to use main beam.
Or even headlights at all.
Even at night.
Or how to drive at more than 35 in national speed limits.
Or how to overtake.
Or even why to overtake.
Or when.
Or how to be overtaken without all the headlight flashing...

Feeling grumpy today  >:(

I've had 2 GRmoto end cans.
1 on my last K1300S , and one currently on my Speed Triple 1050 RS ( took the Arrow underseat exhaust off)
I had , and have no issue with them, easy to fit, and last pretty well.
I'm actually, as we speak , thinking about taking the Akra off my Motorsport and fitting a GR.
Think the Akra is large and ugly !

If you think the Akra is ugly I would hate to hear your description of the stock can...

Hoping to get the baffle out of the Akra can, think it's just a dremmel on to the bolt that's welded shut ?
If it's fruity enough, I'll leave the Akra on !
Not trying to hijack your thread, I'll post a question here on the forum later.
