A shorter definition for longer people:
- If the screen protects more than your stomach, it's not a sports tourer.

I think we are missing a point here. The smart money is now in the adventure bike market. Pan continental trips are done on a GS/KTM/Capanord/multistrada/Stelvio. Fashion has moved on.

If the only choices offered are adventure bikes then adventure bikes will be where any money, smart or not, will be. There is no propper high(ish) powered, sports oriented, sports tourer offered by any supplier anymore.

KTM Adventure or Ducati Multistrada can hold their own with most sports guys, and still whisk you across countries in comfort. 150bhp? No problem.

All features availiable to all riders the K1600 . No further comments needed.
For those who don't go so far the best bike currently  (even with the llw cost suspemsion parts) is the KTM 1290 GT.

The ZZR1400 is an excellent sports tourer but we're all looking for different things in a bike. The FJR is also classed as a sports tourer but it's not in my opinion. Just a tourer with grunt on Sport Mode.  ;)

well 3 weeks and 3500 miles in the r1200rs se is proving a great buy. Averaging 56/59 miles to the gallon, just loosening up all day comfy I am thinking this bike will last me a very long time.Fitted now with factory panniers and a giviv47 top box it is ready for some serious touring.
