My K1300R is my keeper bike.
Its the power, mad but head-turning looks and ease of handling that win it for me ... provided the repair costs don't sky-rocket.
The K1300 series are, in my opinion, bikes on the edge of their production engineering spec, by which I mean they are high-maintenance machines as delivered by BMW (I would love to hear of one with an engine and running gear re-built to near-ideal tolerances). I have already had to replace the rear shock (at around 30,000 miles) but we managed to source a second-hand shock for less than £70 from ebay. It is the correct ESA version and still has no weeping seals after £3000 miles (they get so sad when my bike breaks). Buying a second hand shock is always a risk but so far, so good. As for my recent over-heating in traffic issue, it could be a new radiator in the end but still not worth selling the bike over. I am not a track user/racer and so the engine potential has never turned into anything over 125mph on a straight bit of road here in sunny North Devon but that's plenty for me (more than enough!) and the way it gets there is amazing
Being a bit of an egotist, I love a bike that's turns heads and the K1300R (and S for that matter) certainly does that.
A review: dated somewhat now but it confirms my opinions ... no video for ipad users to be concerned with ...
