In my case, cos I hate scratches. I hate chips too; well, stone chips anyway.

It is easier and cheaper to stick a bit of 3M on than try to get the panels painted, especially since it is almost impossible to match the BMW Indigo Blue on my bike as I found to my cost this time last year.

Used to live in Norwich when stationed at RAF Marham and spent half my life yumping over the fens in various rally cars of varying abilities.

It wasn't so much the sudden drops in the road, it was the sudden drops OFF the road into those terrifying bloody dykes, or drains as they lovingly refer to them.

At the dead of night behind a full set of 150 watt Cibie lights, The Hundred Foot Drain didn't look too bad. In the daylight it used to seem like it was 100 feet DEEP!

Something really useful would be a carbon fibre mudguard made to the size of the standard mudguard with a Fenda Extenda fitted. Tried to speak to someone on the Skidmarx stand at the show and he showed no interest whatsoever.  >:(

What do you know!

I am trying to contact Dave at bigbikemad to see if he wants to come back into the fold. He makes carbon parts so we ought to be able to do a run of special mudguards, I'm sure we could sell lots at the right price.

If you are running a K12/13S and want to keep the back of the bike clean in the winter crud, you need to fit one of these.

Rear Mudguard: Part number 46627675424

Price: less than £20

http://www.rainbowbmw.com/BMWETK/Products/0581_46_11899.html

The difference it makes to the filth on the back of the bike is incredible. It used to be supplied as a standard part in the box with new K12S's to be fitted at the customer's request.

This will keep your lights, indicators and number plate virtually spotless compared to the 'naked' bike!

Brian (who can't imagine why they don't fit it as standard  ::) )

This place will actually sell individual laser cut pieces from the full K12/13 bike kit whereas most folks only supply the whole kit, about £80 from memory.

They sent me the kit diagram and let me choose which bits I wanted to buy. Perfect!

Brian (who thinks it is good stuff as long as you isn't a total klutz  :o )

PS The laser cutting service is based in Stockport but they have fitting service in Reading.

Are the grey ones K&N? They look slightly different to mine iirc.

....and the bl@@dy thing takes more cleaning that the other bits, at least you can take the K'archer to them, try getting that under the bugger of a hugger!

Brian (who asks if Tom has the part no. for the Splash Guard to hand as it ought to be in the tech section, or the cleaning bit....)

PS Wise move Rae!
