Hi
Does anyone know of a mechanic with expertise in K1300 in the west of Scotland. Trying to avoid Motorrad.

Thanks

Even if someone does you’ll still need a gs911.

You'd hope a serious indie BMW mechanic would have one, surely.
To us it's an expensive outlay. To him, it's a vital business tool.

First question of a candidate mechanic: Do you have a GS911?

Two different GS 911’s just to complicate things, I have a 911 (enthusiast version),I’ve two mates who can twirl a spanner and good enough to put a 1300 clutch in my 1200 but even they have a line in the sand that they won’t cross with the K.

It doesn't really help, but to give some context, I've never heard of an independent K mechanic.
Let alone in Scotland. It's odd really.

Maybe another member knows of one?

I wouldn't fancy doing the business model for being a K specialist. I'd be a BMW generalist.

The only independent I’ve heard of period is Church Stretton motorcycles and I’m not even sure if that involves K’s,when my K lunched it’s gearbox my two mates who operate out of a garden shed put a 1300 box in for me,and I supply the GS911 when needed but when it comes to having to shim the motor etc, it’s only the official dealers who are going to get away with the telephone numbers bill doing it.

Well, true.
Your figures are missing the SORN ones, but then again most won't get spent on.

But chip in 1,000 K1200 bikes, and that's about 3,000 K bikes on the road that should get serviced once a year - 12 per working day.

Rae's FJR club has about 4,000 bikes and they have a captive mechanic. I reckon BMW owners might support a slightly higher service cost too - or maybe that's the trouble, they're happy to keep going to BMW?
