Rick

This is an interesting read:

https://community.sena.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115020401803-Sena-30K-can-t-multi-task

Seems the 30k does have to be in mesh mode?
I dont think you're the only one with this issue. I've only a 20k, so the issue doesn't seem to effect that range.

TBH, I really think they have lots of software issues - thats only my opinion.
if you can't get a refund / it sorted, then ebay them. Get something else.

D

Well, thanks David. I’ll contact Sena and see what happens next.

I had a thought about this, I had what I thought was some odd behaviour from the Sena once, I couldn't have the GPS and intercom at the same time and discovered that my Audio Multitasking was turned off. Might be worth having a look on the app to make sure it's turned on. I'm sure you have probably already checked to make sure you are running the latest firmware, if not, update it.

It’s boxed up now ready to go back to Sportsbikeshop. They’ll have a look at it. I’m sure I’ve tried all settings to no avail and it’s been updated to the latest update.

When it arrives I’m going to sit down and try getting this thing to work so if anyone out there is having NO problems with it can you please give me some pointers. Thanks, Rick.

What is the Sena support like? Is there someone who can talk you through the set up?

My unbiased opinion is that nearly all modern intercom systems are too clever for their own good and too complicated for the average user. Or at least, dim ones like me.

I love the clarity and range of the Sena.

I used to love the simplicity of my old Autocom Systems but not the range nor the cabling.

I'm normally good at spatial awareness, hand eye co-ordination and dexterity (removing and refitting MGB GT manifold to down pipe nuts/bolts from above anyone?) but the complexity of the controls on the Sena leave my fingers in a total state of bafflement.

I guess if you use all the functions every day it gets easier; assuming you can get the functions you want to work  8)

I’ll try and get some help from Sena. Will have to email them.
I couldn’t get voice command  to work and I thought I’d tried everything. They say it works, I’ve no idea how they made it work. It’s just going to come back the same as it went with me none the wiser.
Does anyone have one that works ? If so, contact me please!

Hi Rick I am more of a sat nav guru than an intercom guru but they kind of go hand in hand. I am also not familiar with the 30 series, however I do have 20S Evo which works fine. As I mentioned before you need to make sure they are paired and configured in the right order.
First things first.
List the things that work and then list the things that don't. How they don't work and what you think it should do.

I'll be happy to go through it over the phone. In the mean time I will have a read of the user manual.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nB3JiPEqpQ
This youtube video gives the pairing sequence its for a 20S so your button pushes may be different but the sequence should be the same.

Thanks Rae, thanks for the input. I can’t do anything until I get it back from Sportsbikeshop, probably next week. I’ll have another go then.

I have read through your user manual and the firmware seems to be the same as the 20S. I have never tried music sharing before so I gave it a go. It worked ok except I couldn't turn it off, so every time I started my music it played in my wifes helmet. I had to factory reset to turn it off. It's not much of an inconvenience to me as I have never used it in three years.

I want it to play in the wife’s helmet though.
Did it play in yours?
Did it turn down when you spoke?
Do you have an app on your phone? If so what settings have you selected?

So many questions! 😀

I got my music to play in my wifes helmet, my wife was not present at the time, the volume wasn't the same in my wifes helmet it was quieter, don't know if it turned down when I spoke as I had nobody to speak to  ;D. If you don't mind me asking why is music sharing important. Your wife can connect her phone and listen to her own music. Anyway I am not familiarised with music sharing as I never use the facility. First time was today and I'll probably never use it again. I do occasionally listen to music but not sharing.
I do have the Sena App, as for settings, there are too many to list here right now.

Ok, thanks. Well, we use Spotify and we can’t both use it at the same time! So it would be good to stream to her helmet.
I can’t get voice commands to do anything, I should be able to put music on and off. I’m presuming she should be able to do that too.
I can stream it to her and get it to go off when we speak but the music shuts down completely.
I’m not sure now if I have to be in mesh mode to do this properly maybe?

I’ll try it all soon I hope...
