After trading my K1300s for a Z1000 last year I'm now back on a BMW! Although it's not a K, I've now got a S1000rr, the Z was a fast, nimble bike but anything over *0mph resulted in hanging on for dear life against the wind blast so after six months I decided I needed a full fairing again and have come back to BMW, and have popped back to see what's being happening whilst ive been away......!

RESURRECTION!

How did it go Perby?

Hah,hah bit of a delay...... :D
Ok within 200m bike to bike then starts to loose signal, but still good value for the money and great for my phone or music. So nice budget priced unit.

The CL rear brake pads are excellent for the k13s bikes.

As Costas says great pads and at £10 off rrp!

Well folks I've had my K for 2 years now and it's time for a change, great bike that it is I've had a longing for change for a while, and after my last ride out with my mate on his ZZR1400 decided on a complete change! Both are great bikes and as there really aren't any others in the same league and I'm not going to be touring Europe etc I'm headed off down the fun route.
So I narrowed my choice down to S1000r or Z1000. Found a low mileage S1000r at my nearest dealers (B,ham) but they never returned my enquiry, so in the meantime I'd spotted a mint 800 mile Z an hour away, did a deal on my K and collect this Friday.
Never had a naked before so will see how I get on as it's mainly commuting 12 miles per day plus odd weekend ride out, obviously it's not gonna have the comfort levels I've got used to but should be a bit more fun. As in other thread, not really sure what could replace a K at the moment so I'm not going to, just headed off in new direction.

I usually buy MCN to keep me in touch with bikes whilst on hols, it's not such a painful separation that way 😀 I used to subscribe to Ride magazine too but it turned into the Simon Weir show ( the editor) I got sick of seeing his mug on every page.....which was a pity as the mag was OK otherwise.

Went for a blast on Sunday, took the scenic route to Shrewsbury and back after stopping for a midday brekkie, boy it was freezing even with thermals and heated grips cranked up I ride all year but that has got to be one of the coldest days I've ever ridden. My winter mantra is simple- salt on ride bike stays in garage, no salt on roads =ride daily.  :D

When I swapped my R1 for a Z1000 I was insured through the AA, I was expecting an admin charge to change over but they wanted £300 to cover the remaining 3 weeks on the policy before it expired! Or £100 to cancel the policy and loose 1 yrs no claims.....not wanting to not ride my new bike for 3 weeks I choose the later and told em where to go, I went back to C Nash and paid less than the £300 for 12mths, somebody's takin the pee somewhere!

Hello all,

Recently taken my first step to BMW ownership after buying an 09 K1300s after many years of VFR 800 cc joy (for sale by the way)

Picked the K up about a fortnight ago from darn sarf and rode back to sunny North Wales. So far so good, loving the extra quality and pace, even got the missus to pillion last week, for the first time ever, so must be good.

Everything seems OK with the bike and have taken to her like the proverbial duck to water, cant wait for next June for the annual pilgrimage to Douglas to see what she can really do over the mountain.

Its good to be here, looking forward to picking up hints and tips, see you round.

Steve

Welcome, there's a clip on YouTube of somebody doing a K proud over the mountain.

So then Chris. How did you get on with your mates Zed?  ;)

Sorry, still haven't been out together yet, tied up with work and family illnesses

I thought I had seen a section on here or read threads regarding the above, but I cannot find it! I think this would be a great idea to have a sub section giving reviews of biker friendly accommodation and eateries both home and further afield which would help plan trips away etc. Could this be done?

Brian, I've just realised that there is a whole section hidden from view (things bikers love or hate) unless you click on the header! This explains my post above - doh..........I knew I'd seen it somewhere, I've only found it now because it's not hidden if you don't log in!
