K1200 / K1300 Forum / Locking nut key
« on: July 25, 2018, 08:19:06 pm »
So I admit I haven't poured through the pages of the handbook but it seems to be the same as the last one I had, so in amongst my new booklet of paperwork I've found what looks like a minuture wheel nut locking key and a torx key. So I've had a look at the rear wheel and there's no locking nut on there  ::) so what's this key for?

Who's Who? / Back again (sort of)
« on: September 28, 2017, 08:58:03 pm »
After trading my K1300s for a Z1000 last year I'm now back on a BMW! Although it's not a K, I've now got a S1000rr, the Z was a fast, nimble bike but anything over *0mph resulted in hanging on for dear life against the wind blast so after six months I decided I needed a full fairing again and have come back to BMW, and have popped back to see what's being happening whilst ive been away......!

The Euro K Club Lounge / I'm checking out.........
« on: November 22, 2016, 01:42:24 pm »
Well folks I've had my K for 2 years now and it's time for a change, great bike that it is I've had a longing for change for a while, and after my last ride out with my mate on his ZZR1400 decided on a complete change! Both are great bikes and as there really aren't any others in the same league and I'm not going to be touring Europe etc I'm headed off down the fun route.
So I narrowed my choice down to S1000r or Z1000. Found a low mileage S1000r at my nearest dealers (B,ham) but they never returned my enquiry, so in the meantime I'd spotted a mint 800 mile Z an hour away, did a deal on my K and collect this Friday.
Never had a naked before so will see how I get on as it's mainly commuting 12 miles per day plus odd weekend ride out, obviously it's not gonna have the comfort levels I've got used to but should be a bit more fun. As in other thread, not really sure what could replace a K at the moment so I'm not going to, just headed off in new direction.

The Euro K Club Lounge / Put my foot in it....
« on: August 17, 2016, 05:47:23 pm »
Well actually my foot got stuck in it. Pulled up outside paper shop this morning and pushed side stand down with my heel as I got off bike (K1300s) all in one motion, next thing I know is the bike is coming with me as I get off. The lug on the side stand had gone through the heel of my newish Riccha boots and was embedded firmly in my boot. Managed to free my foot and stop the bike toppling on top of me, glad nobody had it on video as I must of looked like a right muppet

I'm looking for a bike to bike intercom system to keep in touch with my mate on days out etc. as he has a habit of taking off in the wrong direction  >:(  so to avoid using my mobile to find out where the hell he is at I've decided we need the ability to talk enroute. Not looking at high end gear so sub £100 would be good if anyone has any suggestions, there are sub £60 sets on eBay and stuff over £200 so what should I get?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Yoke/handlebar question
« on: March 27, 2016, 10:56:58 am »
Hi, sat on bike today I noticed that the L/H handlebar (plastic plug end) sits flush with the yoke clamp whilst the R/H bar protrudes through by about 10mm is this normal or has somebody not refitted them correctly at some point, and if so which is correct?

Anybody tried these?

They appear to be new on the market, expensive but canbus friendly, if they do what they say on the tin I might give em a shot.

I'm thinking ahead to next year and not being a lover of panniers or top box thingys has anybody tried S W Motech blaze panniers on their K or even one of their range of dry bags? I have the BMW rack on the back already so want to utilise that in some way. I'm not thinking of major tours just long weekends France etc.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / New battery ideas
« on: November 21, 2015, 06:05:01 pm »
Hi, the bikes still got the stock battery in and is now coming up to 5yrs old. So before it gives up on me I'm looking for a replacement, do I go with an AGM or I'm tempted by a lithium at £60. Has anybody here in Blighty used one over the course of winter as I use it to commute too? The bikes garaged over night, but am concerned about near zero temperatures.
