I will probably be excommunicated for this but ....

Why, people, do you go for the K1200 range when the K1300 range is, from the posts on this forum, so much reliable and with a better implementation of a close-to-the-edge high performance engine? Not perfect by any means but just better.

My view? You enjoy the care you need to apply to the unfinished product that is the K1200 range.  My opinion, you 1200 owners are mad! The 1300 just works, general BMW switches and final drive issues aside.

Did you consider we might have done before the range was dropped?

In my case, a 2008 GT. Tried the 13GT when it came out and could not justify the significant extra cost in changing for such little gain.

In addition, I prefer "traditional" BMW switchgear

Now, I'd have t find a huge amount to go to  a 16GTLE and for what I want/need, my GT will do it

Looks very like the Steibel nautilus I have on my GT. Halfords sell lookalikes

I would chip off the remainder, wash it in milk and paint it with Hammerite of the appropriate colour.

Brian (who did it with his brother Mini's battery box  8) )

Your brother is called Mini?

its actually not bad from that point of view - far better than a GT

What I found is the better fuel economy offset the additional times for taking panels off at services, so much so it was cheaper to run than an oilhead

They have different names so I suspect different sources. Didn't bother checking the exact content

But - it'll strip down a 12LT

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Re: K1200GT headlight adjuster
« on: April 14, 2015, 04:03:52 pm »
I rang both of them when I thought it was just a couple of pieces of plastic, no one had the adjuster as a part, and whole lamp assemblies (especially Xenon) were few and far between.
apparently an almost (if not exactly) identical part is fitted to the RT1200 so if I was a dealer, I would be cannibalising units with broken lenses etc, knowing franchises, they probably throw them in the bin so they can sell full units :(
fortunately my dealer took the hit,not me, nice to see someone with a bit of honour in this day and age, no quibble just sorted.

I rang both too about my failed headlight - only some weeks before you it seems. And Sherlocks and got frustrated with ebay lights as well

Having bought a new one, my "old" one doesn't have the lever to adjust

Hello and its me!

Oh dear fellows with GT's, beware the God of MOTs for it is written that the damn adjusters can break, and its not an extended warranty and goodwill - forget it.

£675 list and a pretty price to fit.

Mine failed the MOT with "light out of alignment - too high". I'd been saying that to dealers from new. They came back with - adjustment broken, need a new headlight.

The ones on the web - beware - the sellers don't seem to be able to answer straightforward questions, such as "Is it HID or standard" and "is it left or right dip"

Then the nice people up north (moto... can't remember bins or works, the ones that do second hand) advertise but don't stock

It was the same with the exhaust headers I got, ended up getting a nice one from the states, and including postage was less than a UK sourced item

Oh, to add salt to the wound, the clutch failed while being brought back to be - dramatic, no warning, just died. So another few pennies for a new clutch... Expensive year and I hadn't ridden it in anger since September

You can run, but you can't hide...

Me and the tired bike is back, with a new exhaust, new headlight and a new clutch
