street air dry jacket
« on: January 28, 2016, 12:25:14 pm »
Local dealer had some people fm germany doing a demo on new bmw motorrad street air dry jacket with the assorted street air vest.
System was presented in full details with the vest striped fm sensors and we saw inside material, all appear very high tech. Vest can  be worn and activated only with new jacket as per bmw instructions .  Bullshit  excuse my language.
Some of us manage to put it under other type jackets fm many brands something dealers didnt like but who gives a dime. We clearly do not see why is not offered separately.  In our questions no clear answer or reason was offered.
Vest was developed with Alpinestar, money and supervisione provided by bmw and so they got the copywrite.
Cost of vest not currently available to be sold separately is estimated to 1,200 euros. The complete jacket and vest system as bmw sale now cost 1952 euros . To us present 15% discount was offered.
Two went ahead and bought it. Not me.

How much does it cost for BMW to recharge it after activation.

Was it very heavy? Some of their early jackets were very heavy without this built in.

Can it be triggered by slapping on the back or bumping into someone?
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Good questions.
Rechargeable for 240 euros including postage and handling by dealer.
Was extremely lightweight almost like an ordinary vest with protecting pad back.
No it cannot at list from what we saw only an accident can activate it no falls on the ground no hitting no bunches..
For activation is necessary to zip it up , by letting zip open at low button area is not active.

Is this good for Greece? Sounds like it could get too hot or be dead weight most of the time?

Consider anything that protects me more than good.
No its light over a thousand shirt and under a summer jacket would be bearable.

The main and unsolvable issue with other jackets is that they have no place to set the sensor and they are not capable to accommodate vest when inflated. The good new are that BMW offer full repair of jacket and vest  after a crash.
