I know I said in February that I've never had anything other than the normal OK for oil when coming to a standstill at traffic lights but today instead of OK I saw the <!> exclamation mark between two brackets displayed instead. Me and my big mouth!
This probably because I never got the bike serviced in February when it was due although I've only done 2000 careful miles since the last service.
I came back from a run, popped it on the centre-stand, unscrewed the dipstick, wiped it and put it back on the tank just resting it on the threads rather than screwing it back in as per the manual and it was bang on the Min mark. Done this a couple of times just to be sure and it's pretty consistent so happy that the oil level warning is doing its job.
Tomorrow morning I'll take the car to either NOG or Rybrook (depending upon where I decide to go for breakfast
) and pick up a litre of BMW Advantec 5W/40 which looks like the usual fill according to the service receipts.
In fact I might go the whole hog and get hold of 4 litres of oil and an oil filter and change both some time soon.
What would be good to know would be the difference between the Min & Max marks on the dipstick so I can half the amount and top it up to halfway between the two as I've never been a fan of brim filling any oil tank.
I have the K1300GT but guessing this is the same tank as both the R and S and was wondering if anybody knew how much oil it would take to fill from Min to Max to give me a steer please?
Thanks & kind regards,
