My last fuel up gave me 49.5 mpg.

352.6 miles and used 32.38 litres of Tesco's cheapest.
They run better,  and further, on Tesco's finest.  Low rev pick-up is much improved using 99RON
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

And since Tom woke the thread up, my figures:

- worst: 42mpg last weekend on the way to Oulton Park with a lot of clear Sunday morning motorway. Ouch. Had to stop earlier than planned.

- best: 58mpg in a group ride with advanced riders. Gentle acceleration, barely any braking, and staying nearish the speed limit (+10mph). The challenge isn't going quick, it's guesing what the 'advanced' bloke in front is going to do next - brake on the corner or fiddle with his sat-nav whislt wandering across the lane ::)

On average its just a whisker under 50mpg, which is fabulous from 1300cc. That's a cross-country sort of figure, i.e. pottering in and out of towns & villages in-between the blasts.

All on basic 95RON.

Thought i would take part with new bike.
16reg K1300S with 4500 miles now. Mainly commuting at the moment but can certainly vary depending on conditions. Now into driving to work in the dark which slows me down a bit.
Metzeler roadtec 5.
Last fill was about 18 litres and averaged 49 mpg and light on at 160.

Hi All,
To be honest have not been monitoring the consumption on the motorcycle as I have only covered some 1500 miles since purchase in the UK last years 2023 special ed . Last fill light on at 99 miles longest run was about 40 miles on B roads and the rest urban computer saying 21mules to stop 15.5 liters to refill would seem a bit on the heavy side.

I think the power consumption is worse if you are in reverse drive all the time...

If they are computer figures you have to remember computer speak with fork tongue.

The consumption figures are all calculated from trip mileage using brim to brim refuelling.

The trip computer makes the figures 8% better on average but at least that's more accurate than some car trip computers where optimism can exceed 20%

I saw something other day that showed stock K1300 running AFRs at 13.4 all way up to about 8k before mixture richens, joys of emissions control stuff I guess.

That being the case I wonder if ours are a little thirstier when moderately worked such that the efficiency drops, I can't really speak for part throttle cruising as I avoid mways and dual carriageways like the plague (went to Blackpool from near Wakefield without touching a one between xmas and new year).

Would suggest tho that with a power commander or a remap at a suitably competent dyno place, there should be a chunk of power left on the table if you ran it a bit richer under load.

That said - I see Ricardo had to get involved to sort the fuelling out for BMW so if an F1 engineering place says it runs at 13.4 AFR - who the hell am I to argue!
