The K1300GT came back today, with new throttle bodies fitted as well as coil packs and the service items that I had requested completed (valve clearances, plug change, replacement air filter and fresh coolant).

The throttle action is now completely smooth.

Very pleased and all under the BMW two - year warranty, except for the service items.

Good news, keep up the warranty when it runs out.

Rae I think that for me, the warranty is an essential feature of ownership. To date, I imagine that I have had the benefit of around £3,000 of parts and labour at retail prices.

Over the course of about four years I was about £1300 - £1400 up on the warranty deal.

Great news. Nine years ago a set of S throttle bodies were £1,000 retail.

Coils at £70'ish each were a bargain and that's without the labour to get to them. And, I assume that the labour for the valve check was way lower than normal because BM were paying for the labour to get to the cam cover by paying for the coils fitting.

A great result. Well done.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

The total labour time left for me to pay was one hour (£85.00 plus Vat). Parts that I paid for (plugs, valve cover gasket, sealing compound, air filter and coolant) came to £168.76, again plus Vat.

The R1250RS loan bike was provided without charge for the short time that I kept it and my bike was cleaned for me before collection (it was clean before I rode it the 63 miles to the dealer in a rain storm).

To date, I've been really impressed with this dealer and when I eventually change the bike I fully intend to buy from them, although they are not closest geographically.

Not only a great deal, but an honest one to boot.

Don't be shy, post their details in the Praise of Shame board so others can benefit.

The dealer that supplied the bike and carried out the work is Sycamore Motorrad at Peterborough (previously Balderstons).
