For Sale / Wanted / K1200s Scorpion Exhaust - for sale
« on: February 05, 2017, 08:29:33 pm »
Hi Chaps,

Sadly the bike has now been sold but for some reason I can not understand the chap wanted the standard exhaust.
So I have a Scorpion polished exhaust including mounting bracket and link pipe for sale.
It has removable baffles and is in good condition, I loved the sound of this exhausted it was practically the reason I purchased it. The bike ran smoothly at all ranges and speeds with this fitted.

£200.

I live in Kent, UK but happy to post (at your cost).

pm me for more details

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Another rad bites the dust - gulp
« on: June 27, 2016, 09:24:22 am »
Hi Guys,

I picked my 06 K1200s up from BGM in Pembury (recommended on here and he is fab by the way) and just had the 30k mile service along with new pads (which were just strips of metal) front and back, fluid change etc..

Unfortunately the bike is running hot, generally 5 bars and creeping up to 6 in traffic. I gave the rad a good clean and thought it was ok but according to Brian it is fluffed up and needs replacing.

Given I have just spent £425 on it and a rad alone is £450 he wisely suggested I limp it through to its 36k mile service where there is no additional labour to fit the new rad.

Of course I am starting to wonder if it is time to move the bike on, love riding it and don't want to but it is a commuter and the costs are adding up to more than it is worth (I assume value is around £3500 and the next bill is close to £900 for service and rad).

Has anyone found refurbished radiators or had luck with cleaning more than just a brush on the front of the rad ?. Someone recommended knocking out all the fins because they aren't doing anything other than blocking air flow anyway. Apparently they have done this on several bikes but it clearly is a short term solution.

Thanks chaps

K1200 / K1300 Forum / K1200 S fuel strip bypass
« on: January 13, 2016, 04:13:18 pm »
Me again !,

So I have a a faulty fuel strip. I am not going to pay for a repair only to reset the trip every time I fill up because i don't trust it. To then only have it fail again.

After many hours exploring the Google I found a few threads on people bypassing the strip with a resistor. Has anyone tried this or have any better ideas ?.

I am getting annoyed with looking at the yellow triangle every day and worried I might miss an actual warning because I ignore it.

Thanks All

Hi All,

I have been pointed in the direction of this forum for some further help.

I have a K1200 s 2007

Having owned it for a week I love the bike, unfortunately I have an issue with the brakes.

Whilst riding in a heavy storm at the weekend I had to do an emergency stop ( the abs didn't activate but I have never ridden a bike with abs so maybe that was just due to my exceptional talent...or luck)

Before the emergency stop my front brake was nice and crisp with very little travel. after it now feels really spongy, whilst it isn't easy to do I can pull the lever all the way back to the bar. It does stop the bike but I'm not sure I could activate the abs if i tried.

I haven't ever bled brakes before and it is a bit odd that this has suddenly happened. I did check the fluid level but it isn't easy to tell with the sponge in the MC (should I remove this to check the level ?).  also opinions seem to conflict with the bikes equipped with Teves when bleeding the brakes. some say just do it as per normal and others say you need to bleed the whole abs system.

if anyone has advice it would be really appreciated.

Or if you can recommend anyone in the south east of the uk who can work on these bikes and isn't a main dealer that would also be great. I have been to the tunbridge wells BMW dealer for one of the recalls and I don't fancy paying them £1m to try and bleed the brakes to then tell me I need to pay another million for a new MC.

thanks all
