K1200 / K1300 Forum / 2009 K1300S
« on: May 26, 2018, 03:14:09 pm »
Hi there.
Looking at a 2009 1300.
One owner. It has 60,000km. All service records. It has Power Commander 5 with autotune, full Akropovic exhaust with carbon fibre can, Pazzo levers, MRA shield, throttle lock, K&N air filters, 3M film protection. Basically new Michelin Pilot Road 4's. Valves adjusted last year, compression checked at that time(as new) new plugs, brake pads. always full synthetic oil. He is firm on $8000 Canadian. Only issue I have with the bike is it is orange but I'm coming around on that and there is always new paint.

What do you think?

Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Update to ABS/Servo brake issue
« on: May 26, 2018, 02:58:49 pm »
Hi all.
I ended up taking my 1200s to a small local classic restorer/mechanic. I wasn't getting anywhere myself. Rode up to the shop and 5 minutes later the bike was on the lift!! That won't happen at the BMW shop!! Thankfully the owner of the shop had owned a K1200 and knew this was a bike that needed brakes.
They did a complete brake flush and tried diagnose the Servo pump issue for me.  Turns out it was the front brake switch right at the lever. Switch was intermittent at best. Always worked on first start up but if you shut down to get gas etc ti was a fail on restart. So switch was cleaned up and fiddled with in placement until it worked every time. All for $200 Canadian!! Again never would have happened at the BMW dealer! I rode away a lot happier and confident that I was going to be able to stop.

The next day I sold the bike!

K1200 / K1300 Forum / ABS again, (not driving skill)
« on: April 10, 2018, 09:06:28 pm »
Still wondering.
So my ABS light is rapidly flashing and of course does not shut off once you start moving. I have limited brakes, the light flashes away for awhile then goes out and I have full brakes again until I stop and turn off the bike. It usually is only a little while of driving before the flashing light goes off. Is this an electrical problem? New battery this spring.
I know the pump rebuild, pump replacement and conversion to ordinary brakes. Just wondering if there were other thoughts RELATED to this problem.

Thanks, Vince

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Neutral Switch not Working
« on: April 10, 2018, 08:59:59 pm »
So from what I see on a search, the neutral switch/potentiometer goes on these bikes. Mine started doing that just the other day. So pretty much just replacing the part guess?
Seems like one thing after another on this bike.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Eliminating ABS
« on: March 06, 2018, 09:06:26 pm »
Lookedfor thread on this but did not come up with anything much.
Was talking to dealer re brake fluid flush on 2005 K12S. ( Anybody doing this for themselves? I do it on my other bikes but not with this servo system)

Service guy said there were a few Kbikes around where they had disconnected the ABS circuit completely and were just traditional hyd brakes.

Just wondering what you all think and I know there are thoughts and opinions out there.

Also read some threads on rads. Mine is out and will clean up. Looks not too bad shape but it sounds like they are fragile. Its not badly plugged up or the like so will clean and blow through. Other thoughts?

Cheers
Vince

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Bike running rough/lack of power
« on: February 18, 2018, 05:40:36 pm »
Was out for ride past fall.  Warmish day. After 20-30 minutes riding stop in traffic at construction zone. At idle motor stops. Restart motor idles a bit then quits again. Start again and traffic starts to move again. From that time to present bike has not run properly. Has no power or surges strongly. Give throttle and feels like motor is choked. Won't rev up. Or like tuning on only a couple cylinders. Use only 94 Chevron gas with no ethanol. Clean air filters. Tried throttle position reset. Not sure about that, but did not change things. Have read some threads but not too sure where to start. Although I am gettin a new battery as battery seems to draw down easily. Have heard about air boxes, 02 sensors but not sure what next. Trying to avoid BMW dealer on Island here as it is not close and always very expensive.
I'm not always around the computer so can be awhile some times to get back to forum.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Thanks Vince

Who's Who? / New from Canada
« on: February 15, 2018, 03:49:24 pm »
Hi there.
Vince from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
Just new to the forum. I'm riding a 2005 K1200S. I just bought this bike last summer after having sold my R1100S. I really enjoyed R1100S but was looking to try something else and the K bike came up. It is stock except for a full Remus titanium exhaust and MRA wind screen. The bike sounds awesome and loud. Effortless power. Quirky handling at lower speeds n funky brakes. More comfortable than my R bike was.
Pleased to meet you all. Looking forward to technical help.
I have an issue right now but will look at threads first but it is not running properly almost like it is choked or not getting enough fuel.
See you around the forummm
Vince
