How To - Tech & Forum support / Re: K1300GT Clutch drag

To let you know the clutch in my old  2011 K1300GT gave no trouble whatsoever until it started slipping at around 110,000 miles when I replaced it in full (new basket and plates).  It did many Continental miles two up with luggage but even so had a fairly easy life with me. Even so only 28,000 miles suggests excessive use of the whip to put it in equine parlance!

I had a bit of a fettle today and swapped the forks over. I do prefer the black forks to the silver, the black forks were fitted to 2018 models.

The lighting was not the best.

I have looked on R&G site and all I can find is a section that says ring for spares.

You can buy the crash bung plastic bits separately and just keep the mounting hardware.

Ah, I didn't know that Brian, I'll investigate.

I say 'is', I should say 'was' back in 2013'ish.

The verdict is that it's good, but the Sargent suits me better. I think the problem is I'm not normal at 6'4".  ::)
I'm too tall, and I like a little more back & forth wriggle space.

I think it would be good for normal height riders, and it's definitely comfier than a standard seat over a longer distance.
It is quite firm, but then again good long distance seats (Sargent, Kahedo) are firmer than standard.

The design is good - quality leather, well stitched, there's no seam under your thigh (a neg point on the Sargent in terms of comfort for some), and the bum curve is correct for maximising the spread of pressure.

They supply a very simple bracket to attach the seat part to the bike with two allen key bolts so that's about 5 mins installation. The Smuggler pod part clips in under their seat bracket and is secured at the back by the normal BMW seat lock mechanism.

I can't say if the overall combi is a good fit since I couldn't fit the Smuggler pod without piddling about with the grab rails, but it's very well made, and is considerably bigger then the Sargent pod. It would hold all my tools and pump easily, which is a annoying.  >:(

Removing 2" off my legs is going to cost an arm a leg and a leg, so I'll stick with my Sargent and a rear bag for tools, and pop this on eBay at some point soon.

Andym2 is 90% there, really. I think the resolution isn't quite good enough.
But Andy S (for Swindon) is also correct - so full points there for spotting something I had taken for granted. Doh.

It's a Corbin seat. But only half a Corbin seat. The back half is cardboard, just for yesterday's ride:

The reason being that the 'Smuggler' storage unit that comes with it won't fit with the rear carrier in place.
Or more accurately, it will only fit with standard single curve grabrails (the rear carrier version comes up higher and gets in the way). And with a Smuggler (7.1 litres supposedly), you won't need a small tailpack anyway:

Therefore I tested the comfort with just the front seat on a 150 mile run.
