Oh well, having recovered from the side effects of my Ox A-Z jab on Friday, I now see that it gives less protection against the Seth Efrican mutation than they hoped. So I won't be going to Seth Efrica this year then...

UK may have been slow on the uptake with respect to lock downs but are more than making up for it on the vaccination rollout. My baby brother (55) in Bucks got jab on Friday, my 86 y/o mother with type2 and other issues in Dublin hasn't even got a date yet. Me & kids are looking forward to bailing out tents in Donegal again this summer  ::)

I wouldn't say it's entirely made up for the previous mistakes, but the jabby jabby is going better than most now :P. Provided everyone does get their second pokings.

And take a boat! A boat holiday sounds much more fun than camping right now :D.

I seem to recall that the first major outbreaks outside Wuhan were on board cruise ships.

And OK, being technically correct about it they are NOT boats. But spending any time cooped up in an air-conditioned steel box with a gazillion unknown others is about as appealing as sticking pins in my eyes.

Was listening to a professor of immunology the other day and he said there was a research project in UK looking at a second but different jab. Essentially first jab kick starts your immune system and the second jab bumps it up. However there's a well known effect in which a second jab of a similar vaccine has a much greater effect than a second jab of the same vaccine. So AZ + Moderna may be the golden ticket.  Failing that, we could always start humming this in public https://youtu.be/e-X1X766vAY

As I had the Pfizer jab, I am still waiting for my viagra discount card.  NHS is a bit slow with that. On other news, did get an appt to get my bust finger operated on, so awaiting appt so I will hopefully have a working clutch hand again... I might even be able to tickle the guitar once more.

I guess they are doing invites by year of birth rather than age. I'm 70 in a month or so and had the invite and the jab yesterday. Same happened to a mate of similar age.

Some areas are in front of others. We are doing really well in our area, my wife Melanie is doing her bit for this. I am 65 and getting mine on Friday. Melanie tells me it's the Pfizer one I'm getting. They go down the lists by age. So if you have a birthday in between clinics it is possible they might miss you but they will get back to you.
