Noob question: Can anyone tell me what this is?

Hi all
was looking over my bike and found this inside the left faring. Can any body tell me what the pointy thing is pointing to the front of the bike?
Could it be a temperature probe to measure ambient temp? Whatever it is, it seems like a pretty fragile thing to mount it at the front of the bike to me...

Temp sensor.

The display on the dashboard that tells you how cold it really is - this is where it gets its info from!

I might wrote how hot it is but you are in UK so cold is more appropriate.

Mine has a cable tie round it to keep it in place

Mine has a cable tie too. One of the original rubber bands used to keep it in place disappeared.

Well, you've forced me to go to the garage.

Mine was partly off. Hmmm:




It slides off rather too easily for my liking:




It seems to have a cable tie channel, so mine may be cable tied in the near future. Or maybe just a bit of Lazy Bastardtm Tape.

Took a hefty bird-strike from a fat-breasted pigeon yesterday on my K13GT. Feathers everywhere! It had knocked the sensor completely off it's mount, as it's even more exposed on the GT, under the right side forward fairing.  Still seems to be working though.
