For Sale / Wanted / K1200s ILmberger carbon rear hugger for sale
« on: March 11, 2024, 08:26:42 am »
I have an ILmberger rear hugger for sale that I no longer need. Taken off my k12s. It’s specifically for the k1200s and will NOT fit the k1300s. I’ve gone up to a 55 profile tyre so it’s no longer required.

It’s in very good used condition and still has the part number and vehicle specific stickers on the underside. Pics available via email.

This part is no longer available from ILmberger.

Looking for £150 with free delivery.

Suspect it’s 1200s

If you take some measurements, I’ll compare it to my k12 iLmberger hugger that I’ve taken off. This is the way, if you want to find out what it should be on.

Mine still has the k1200 yellow sticker on the underside

Hope you get a buyer, but if you do put it back to standard, I’ll buy the rear hugger, if you have one 👍

I understand the 'need' for a carbon hugger, but if you want to keep the arse end of your bike really clean, do you have the rear mudguard fitted. Someone will pop up with the linky thingy in just a mo. But at c. £20 it is a much better solution and works way better than the hugger. Just not as bling and non one really knows if you have it fitted.

Stealth shite reducer!

Those rear mudguard extenders are extremely rare now. However, there's one on eBay right now - secondhand at £50:

Is it worth £50? Just about - if you use your bike in the rain a lot.

There are few new in Europe at about the same price, but add P&P to the £50-60. Just search for:
BMW 46627675424

Thanks what I like about this site, everyone’s helpful. This post will probably help someone else keep their luggage a bit cleaner 👍

Cheers Phmode, I already have one fitted, thanks to this site. Never understood why is wasn’t fitted at the point of sale. Down to squeezing the cash out of the customers I expect.

I was surprised how much crud it kept off my luggage on a very wet 2 week trip. Rained almost every day, a bit like this years summer here in the South Wet, I mean South West 🌧

Would it be possible to make some bracketery to raise it up a bit to accomodate your tyre profile.

I’ll ride out the wait for one to hopefully come up for sale. Only a few weeks left until I get busy with work again so won’t be out riding much.

I may go down the temporary road though, I’ll think it over …

That’s for the replies people 👍

Or let some air out of the tyre...

Never again!

Had a reply from North Oxford Motorrad.

Unfortunately, they don’t have any in stock. So it looks like I’m going to have to rely on e bay or hopefully someone here may find one laying around or tucked away somewhere.

I do have one for a k1200s, but as I’ve gone up to a 55 profile rear tyre, I now need one for the k1300 or find an engineer type of person that could modify mine… 🤞

Mine was the last one the importer had and that was wayyy back. He had no bolts either and suggested I merely remove the rather thick washers from the bolts and use them like that. Worked perfickly!

Actually, that might have been for my K12 but the fitting method is the same.

Thank you for that into. I’ve just pinged off an email. Can’t make calls while I’m at work at the moment.

Cheers for the link, but I'm not looking for a k1200s front mudguard/fender.

As the title says…

Must be in good original, undamaged condition.

Tyres / Tyre questions for the k1200s riders.
« on: July 09, 2023, 12:11:22 pm »
Hello everyone, a tyre question for k1200s owners/X owners, regarding rear tyre size and profile.

I ride a 2008 k1200s and I’m on the standard 190 50 17 size tyre.

Been reading a few articles about the benefit of going up to a 55 profile rear tyre, so here’s my questions.

Has anyone here gone up to a 55 profile rear tyre?

Did you stick with 190 width or did you go to 180?

How did you find the ride after the change?

Cheers in advance

For Sale / Wanted / Wanted. Carbon fibre heel/ankle plate covers

After a pair of heel plate covers for my k1200s.

Not sure of the actual name of those funny shaped bits above the foot pegs, but my heel/ankles touch them so for this post I’ll call them heel/ankle plates

Alternatively, if someone here knows where I can get a kind of sticker to cover them, that would be great 👍

Cheers in advance
