Hi everyone

Hi all,

New member here from East Riding of Yorkshire in the UK.

I've had a long break from owning a BMW motorcycle my last one was an R1150GSA back in 2004, I've had a few bikes after that, such as Kawasaki ZX10R, Honda Blackbird & Honda VFR1200F which I've just traded in for a 2011 K1600GT.

Gotta say this is the heaviest bike I've ever owned! So I've bought some engine protection bars and pannier protection bars too, just in case of a topple over, which I've read on various forums, is probably more than likely to happen at some point in time.

Welcome David!

I have to admit to having never tried a 1600 (yet), mainly because of the weight, but I ride regularly with the owner of a GT and he says the weight melts away as soon as you're rolling. It works well, tours nicely, and makes everyone giggle - including himself - when he uses reverse. Can't be bad!

Hello and welcome to another David

Like Rich, I've not tried a K1600, but I know that they surprise a lot of people with how well they can "hustle". However, some form of drop protection sounds like a very good idea.

Hi David and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub!

I imagine it's a lot like the GS. It's heavy when you are trying to push or lift it but the weight just disappears on the move. And of all the peeps I know, Richard is the only one who would make a GT look like a 450... :o
