Duff Battery.
« on: April 28, 2018, 08:39:18 pm »
Skived off work early this evening rushed home and put on all the gear, bike wheeled out. Starter pressed
........................nothing. Battery had been on trickle charger in preparation for the sun for previous 36 hrs so didn't believe it was the battery but on checking it was 11.6v :(
Just stuck it on a 30a charger and did a discharge test , looks like a duff cell. Wonder if there is a warranty?
I have e mailed the supplier and ordered another one having had no issues with them over many years.
Its a Motobatt fitted in August 2017.

Could have been worse. My K1200S did that with a new battery on the way to Wales for a short break. Had to be recovered from Wales.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Batteries are a the devils work.. many moons ago i went round a friends house car started fine, spent 2 hours there, in that time the battery completely died, we managed to start it by him towing me but on the journey home you could tell the battery was cattle trucked because the headlights dimmed in time with my indicators..

Be interesting to see if my battery is any good after sitting on a 13.4v charger all winter

Update. Found a old Motobatt in the workshop  dated 2013 that was removed from some past bike for some reason. Had been sitting and not charged for at least 3 years and was still showing 12.6v !!
Put it on charge overninght and going for a blast today  ;D Hurrah.

Winter is over, Blobby. Come out!

8C, thick cloud and breezy.
Yup, that's about the going rate for April...

Just need to get it MOT'd.. I'm off Thursday so hopefully will do it then.
Can't even go riding this weekend which is meant to be nice as I'm on call.  :(
