3 gas canisters put enough in my rear tyre to get me the admittedly lowly distance of about 3 miles to the nearest air line.

Unless I were making progress I doubt I would know if it was that low on pressure and I would happily have ridden at most speed limits apart from 70 for about 10 miles.

Richard had a rear that was so low I had to pull him over as I could 'see' how flat it was. He sheepishly said he did wonder but he sure as hell didn't pull over yelling 'I've got a rear puncture!'

Almost nowhere in UK is remote enough to worry. I now carry a compressor when on tour but my normal kit has four canisters now.

I have a cordless compressor it has just about enough juice to fill a rear tyre from flat. You have to remember to keep it charged.

Aah! Yeah that's the thing isn't it. More things to keep charged!

I'll stick with the canisters for now. I used similar ones to push beer in smaller kegs so it's no hardship.

I use one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Slime-40001-Motorcycle-Tire-Inflator/dp/B000ET9SB4. Not the cheapest but well made, very compact and works great.

I had the Slime pump kit and getting it back in the case was like a puzzle from the Krypton Factor, and if you remember the Krypton Factor you're really old  ;D
